My MM540 (2002 model) came with the Dry type. So I will just keep the same unit with the XD3P engine.

You forgot the wheelbase and weight factor GTO..

Well..thats if :

1. You dont KNOW how to HANDLE JEEPS
2. Have not done Offroad in a Jeep
3. Have done offroad in one of those new sissy vehicles and have the "moolah" to do the offroad in comfort.

Classics are awesome machinery..but need to be maintained well to take the best out of them.

If I were GTO, I would not have stopped with an infraction: LOL

I dont presume the Major comes with free wheeling hubs as stock fitment. You could add them after-market though.
You dont need freewheeling hubs IMO. Its better as incase we want to try a terrain in 2WD mode, get stuck, then you'll be forced to get down to do the works!

Each has its own advantages..Oil bath filter is better in very dusty conditions as well as in areas where deep fording is necessary.

Gurus, please explain this

all 4WD/AWD on one page - a simple, easy to understand overview - all available 4WD, all wheel drive and 4x4 systems and their differences - 4WD concepts, their function, their layout, their purpose, their advantages

I got this from the thread 'lamba free wheeling hubs'.

Now is this Mahindra Major a fulltime 4WD or a part time.

Also what is the Gypsy, or the safari 2.2 4x4, Scorpio 4x4 electric, bolero LX 4x4, bolero SX electric 4x4, mahindra rakshak, mahindra axe, Force Gurkha?, etc etc available in India.

This is a total off-topic subject, please start a new thread for detailed discussion. To be quick, I think in India GV is the only full-time 4x4, CR-V and Tucson have auto-4x4, and rest are all part-time 4x4.

Is this different from before, I mean the telescopic shocks?

They are still refering to it as CL500/CL550, I think Major is the marketing name. Please somebody tell me the difference between CL500 and CL550.

sales rule - discount low demand products. Never on higg demand products. If you stay anywhere near western ghats, andra, or the beautiful himalaya;s you may notice how much the major and CL650 (Longer WB for upto 10 people) sell Like HOT CAKES. So sorry sunny, no discounts for people like us on Major

Sandeep, Hi,

Yeah, agreed, I was just stating that the international engine is not as refined as the Peugeot Engine and also has a very short powerband. There is amazing low end torque and the clever gearing makes driving one easy.

The real problem is faced only in some tough situations when you feel that the engine does not have juice.

But having said that, i agree that very very few jeeps [majors] are going to see such situations.

That probably explains why Invader comes with Peugeot XD-3P H IDI engine. No turbo lag to deal with.
