Sorry, let me clarify. The camshaft and the ignition system are different. What I meant was, the mountings are the same, and in effect you can retrofit a standard Esteem engine into a Gypsy.

Chicking eh? I'll get you after I collect the Zinger meal that I won.

I believe even the intake and exhaust manifolds are different.

Can hardly see the bullbar.

- Which is the 'leather hood'. is it just covering the cabin roof or is it cabin + roll down also?

- Have you modded the exhaust also? can see a huge tail pipe towards the side of the gypsy in one of the pics..

i know bro, i will take few pics in daylight and post it in a day or two,

leather hood is custom made which covers the cabin and the rest half is removeable..

exhaust.. its just the tail can no headers nothing..

Swift diesel

Is the Gypsy engine (2008 year) the same as the Swift and the Dzire?

If so, is the Swift diesel (1248cc turbo with intercooler) a straight bolt in fitment to the Swift and therefore the Gypsy?

Inquiring minds want to know.

The petrol : yes. Reworked and tuned, but basically the same engine.

Unfortunately not. Some serious engineering has gone behind fitting the Fiat 1.3 diesel into the Swift. And its not viable anyways.....if you ever manage to, the engine will cost you 2.xx lakhs new.

I have seen this question dealt with before but not conclusively and for 2008 I will ask it again. Is there a diesel that can be swapped relatively easily into a Gypsy while still retaining the four wheel drive? I will assume the Himachal Pradesh officials can be.... persuaded... to okay it.

For me, the money is not the main problem in doing modifications. It is the complexity coupled with the fact that I live in a remote area that does not have great mechanical shop options.
