The FE report is out, it is unbelievable, at least for me.

Anand told me he gave me a filled up tank, the reading was 8232 during fillup, and 8248 when he delivered it to me. On the way I filled up for 500 bucks or 13.8L (not 10L as I mentioned before), and today I filled up at 8712, an additional 15.8L only.

In other words, the Jeep drank 29.6L for covering 480Kms of mixed road conditions, about 80Kms of city traffic, about 200Kms of straight highways, and about 200kms of twisting roads including ghat sections. Don't forget the congestion in ghat section.

That's 16.2kmpl!!!:Shockked:

My total fuel bill for the trip is Rs.1034 only.clap: (I deducted 16kms (1L) used by before delivery)

What this amazing FE tells is that the engine is healthy and is putting out good power. And that good power is being well transmitted to the road.:thumbs up

I just spoke to him, he said he used to get FE of 13kmpl. Then he installed free wheeling hubs, hasn't checked FE after that. Didn't know free wheeling hubs can make so much difference.:)

Fantastic and envious buy. Since you are an avid offroad fan (much like myself) even though you are a new recruit to the addictive sport (again much like myself) this was the best thing you could do to satisfy the off road hunger pangs. I will be keeping a good eye on this and other 4X4 threads for sheer knowledge.
Always wanted to get a SWB jeep and even got one recently but the papers were not all there so its lying waiting for papers... or a refund. Bought it from a friend so no issues about the money being returned.
Be prepared for a volley of questions when I get my jeep papers. You just lead the way.:thumbs up

BTW - before anything else, congrats once again on the jeep.

...and a huge Tatoo..!!:D

Amazing buy Samurai.

Congratulations for it.

hi samurai,

Congratulations on your purchase!!! Wonderful jeep with a nice character. I have gone through your garage u mentioned the wheels to be apollo strom 235/75 R16. But did CJ 340 DP ever come with 16" rims???

If the wheels were changed then your speedo must be showing almost 20kmph less hence a top speed showing 80kmph...u may be doing 90-100 not realising the same.

16 kmpl is fantastic mileage. i believed only Di engines can give such mileage. May be it is beacuse of jeeps light weight and healthy engine.

For me, please drive it with hubs lock and check the efficiency. This will make my decision for free wheeling hubs easy :-)

You are right, what is the stock tyre on CJ340, does anyone know?

i think stock rims were 15inch with non- radial tyres non M&S if not wrong- 7.00 16

In that case the fuel mileage figures would also differ. He would be getting more than 16kmpl if the speedo odo error is true.

If it is only getting 13kpl then that is not too hard to accept. I do not think the free wheeling hubs are going to make more than 1kpl difference.

The more I look at these pictures the more I like the looks of this thing. You now have me looking harder to find one of its cousins, a MM540/550.

The difference would be 0.9 inch increase in diameter, just 3.2% speed error. That would make it 16.7kmpl, nothing significantly more.

Samurai, your jeep is looking beautiful.
I too dream of owning such a machine one day.

samurai..Congratulations on your new tool.. Nice looking jeep..

Expecting new adventures on the true off road machine..
