Hi Guys,

The "New" Carb is from the older Dodge/Fargo/Power Wagon Trucks, and the jetting is tuned for economy.

This year the Ignition Coil & Spark Plug Cables were changed.

The Hino W04D plan has been dropped as it will require fabricating an elongated (+4.5") top gear shaft.

Regards,

Arka

Re: Nissan 4W73 aka 1 ton

Sandeep, Arka is a petrol head at heart - Dont corrupt his clear mind. The 1 ton is going to continue with the original 6 cylinder petrol engine.

Cummins 4bt is mated to what gearbox and final drive? 4wd - 2 speed TC or 1 speed?

Thanx for the pictures

Re: Nissan 4W73 aka 1 ton

I just completed reading the entire thread and now I am GLUED.

My experience with 1 Ton takes me back to 1999 when Army Cantt provided us with this vehicle to be ferried for our XIIth Board Exams. Back then I had asked the mileage question to the driver and he said 2 KMPL. I was just stunned, and thought only a Govt Org. can feed such a vehicle. But I am glad to see one of these coming back on roads (rather off roads).

Petrol head is fine, but just think, keep it petrol and use it just a couple of times a year or make it diesel and use it regularly. Everybody here would like to see this beast in action on different terrains .IT would be an experience one of its kind.
The petrol 6 is not going to rev like your japnese washing machine to 6000rpm. Its a low rpm engine just know for its torque , which the cummins 4bt will produce at idling. There is a lot you can do to the cummins reliably to get 200+bhp and 57kgm at around 1500rpm.

4200RPM GOVERNOR SRPING
Fuel pin
Heavy duty tappet springs
Turn the fuel and smoke screw in the pump little.

With a 6bt holsett he341 or hy35
Lucas POD(prince of darkness) injectors
6bt exhaust manifold
Bigger intercooler

Arka can get 300+ bhp, 70kgm and

With 5 inch dual stacks and smoke and fuel screw turned to the max he can literally smoke a whole junction.

CUMMINS POWER AND HARDCORE RELIABILITY

Sandeep, Thanks for the info - Now, can i fit this 4BT on a 540?

The figures are great, but what you need to state is the matching of GB and TC. What GB and what TC will you match? Adding a twist, what GB and TC will you use if you want to plonk this engine on a CJ3B / MM5X0?

What tires are you going to use to put the 300 BHP on road / OFF ROAD?

A vehicle without correct footwear is ballet dancing on stilts.

Also, I am aware that the 4BT is a very popular engine for conversions

To answer, I did basically all the work:
-Acquiring the engine off e-bay and driving to pick it up
-Installing a new rear main seal
-Buying a Flywheel housing from Dodge
-Acquiring the bellhousing and clutch through a friend
-Acquiring a new input shaft for my NV4500 from a friend, then installing it
-Attaching the transmission/t-case to the engine
-Dry fitting the engine and transmission into place about 20 times
-Measuring a few times
-Designing and welding up engine motor mounts
-Designing and welding up transmission mount
-Cutting more transmission tunnel out of my Jeep body to make for a raised transmission
-then making new covers for that area
-Drain gas tank, blow out fuel lines, and fill tank with Diesel
-And Everything In-between!

What I had a shop(s) do:
-Custom bend my exhaust
-Shorten the height of the charge air tube; so I could close the hood without hitting the engine.
-Inspect my Jeep
-Attach a new speedometer cable and calibrate my odometer
-Rebuild my alternator that, in the shop owners words, "looks like it was in a flood"

I have always taken pride in doing all my own work and fabricating all the custom parts for my Jeep with a few exceptions. I think everyone knows where their limits are. Usually the only time my Jeep has to go to see a mechanic is when it needs inspected.
The above is a quote from one of the international forums - Now with ALL this work will you get HARDCORE RELIABILITY?

Hi Sandeep,

Please post pics of the Gearbox & Engine mounts.

The BA Number on the doors shows it to be a 8XC number, the Diesel was introduced in 1996c.

Is the engine gear box from another Diesel 1ton? Or a Body swap?

Regards,

Arka

Re: Nissan 4W73 aka 1 ton

Arka ill find out and let you know. Pics only when i am back to HYD.

HEADERS, i have not mentioned anywhere here that you can fit the 4bt to the 540 or cj3b.I was talking about this engine for the 1ton.

All the above mentioned work is a piece of cake ,yes i am doing a 4bt swap on a JEEP and dont want to discuss it .
