Hi there,

This is one of the old threads I have been following but I see no updates for a long time. Finally a membership here to post a query. Whaere is your 1Ton? Please update the thread

1Ton (Wanten as i always thought as a kid) were popular sights here in Gangtok when we were kids and we needed to haul stuffs not requiring an entire truck. Reminds me of a scary trip from a hardware store in Town to home with a load of bricks down the infamous NamNam Road in Gangtok on a "wanten" i was perhaps in 10-12 years old and my sole job was to give direction to home. A scary ride it was.

1 ton 6x6

Hello folks!
Nearing the completion of my 1 ton body work. So moving to the engine and mechanicals etc. I am going for a cummins 6BT and 6x6 setup. My questions are as follows:
1) Does any vehicle (truck or bus) come with an automatic transmission which mates to a 6BT?
2) Where or how can I get a transfer case for a 6x6 setup?

Thanks again.

I thought that the Nissan 1T is a single real axle, so it should be 4x4.

6x6 is for vehicle having dual real axle - front and both rear axles driven.

Not much practical idea of 6x6 transmission train.

You can look up the net for 6x6 (and 8x8 or 10x10) army vehicles. They are made by Tata, Ashok Leyland and Tatra.

https://www.motoroids.com/tata-motor...e-of-its-kind/

https://www.tatamotors.com/product/d...platforms-6x6/

https://www.overdrive.in/reviews/ash...rive-review-2/

It runs an 8.0-litre turbo-diesel from Ashok Leyland's Neptune series engines, and produces 360PS of power and a massive 1,400Nm of torque at 1,300rpm. It's got an 8-speed manual gearbox (with the option for an automatic), a 2-speed transfer case, full-time 6-wheel drive and will hit a top speed of 90kmph. That's pretty impressive considering this truck weighs a hefty 21 tonnes. It's also got a 350-litre fuel tank, which gives it a 700km range. Ashok Leyland is the only company selling a 6x6 to the Indian Army with an engine made in India.

All three axles are live with differential locks for each one, which will help this mammoth get out of the stickiest of situations. But even if that doesn't work, it's got a 10-tonne winch to pull itself out. It's got a parabolic bogey suspension which is essentially a leaf spring set-up.

https://www.tatratrucks.com/trucks/c...-duty-chassis/

I think that you can get them in Army Auction. Once you get a truck, you have all things needed
1. 6x6 gearbox
2. 6x6 drive train
3. 6x6 differentials. The most important one is the differential in the front rear axle. It has to cater to the first axle as well as transmit power to the second rear axle.

Best of luck in your endeavour

Nissan Differential Swap

Hello folks,
Working on a Nissan 1 ton right now.need some inputs from the wizards out here about the differential.
1) is the factory differential good enough? For off roading ,high bhp engine? Is it noisy?

2) can it be swapped with any other setup?

3) is the Tata 407 (4x4) or the swaraj Mazda (4×4) Army trucks, setup a good candidate for a swap? Which setu0s / company are their differentials?

Regards and thanks
