I know you are already an expert in these field, but here are some links that you might find useful..
Link 1. Welcome to the 1953 M37 Restoration Page
Link 2. 1953 Dodge M37
Link 3. Restoration of a 1963 Dodge M37 military utility truck

in order of usefullness.

PS: I personally hate this vehicle first it took our brave military 50 years back, Second it used hell lot of fuels for the power it delivered, and third its one of the symbol of flaw buying by defence filled with corruption.

Arka how about making it into something like the orange offroader Or the green one!

It's a 1947 Dodge Power Wagon. I like the old Power Wagons.

Plans

2) Convert it to Soft Top, very simple just remove 14Bolts and the hard top comes off

5) Fit a Air-Conditioner as this is going to be my daily drive
Why do u want to make it a soft top and then put an AC into it?? Or are u referring to the rear section of the vehicle??

I think he want it to look like what is shown on the first page of the thread. (m37 and not like powerwagon).

I guess he already answered why he wanted the AC.

Hi guys,

We had teamBHP meet on sunday to welcome the new truck in 4x4 community, the Nissan 1 ton (W73). We all gathered on ECR beach by about 8 A.M along with 4wd jeeps, Gypsies and couple of cars. Every one got a change to experience the Beast. There was press coverage as well.
Every one was raring to lay thier hands on the beast and after few 4wd gurus doing honours it was my turn. The following were my observations-

1. Smooth Nissan engine, it sounded great
2. Smooth steering
3. light clutch
4. Smooth gear box (much better than my Mahindra)

The 1st gear was really low and was capable of digging a big hole. The only problem was too high second gear. Even slightest loss of momentum, u have to shift it up to 1st gear. No low range was the sore point. This was the case in no load situations. May be a better tuned engine or a 4 litre diesel that Arka is planning to retrofit may ease the things bit.

On the whole a very rare machine that looks great and feels great. Thanks to Arka for providing us the very rare expereice of driving a Nissan 1 ton.

check the links for few videos taken on my mobile

Photos of the 1-ton from yesterday's g2g outside Chennai. I took a ride in it and was deeply impressed. The engine still packs a punch and all it needs is a "pimp-my-ride" like do!.
