Re: Mahindra Classic 4x4. 2.5 Liter Diesel. Back on the road!

She sure is having a busy month! Best friend borrowed it yesterday to serve as a wedding car. And tonight, I'm taking her out:

Re: Mahindra Classic 4x4. 2.5 Liter Diesel. Back on the road!

Not a good monsoon season for the Jeep.

- Starter went bad. Repaired.

- Ignition switch went bad. Replaced.

- Diesel leaking heavily from somewhere. Going to be fixed soon.

- Worse still, I've not been driving it much due to a combination of travel, media test-drive cars being there every weekend and the rains .

The stars aren't aligned for her right now. I don't remember the last time she threw so many tantrums together.

Starter going bad again?

If diesel leaking from tank seams don't try to repair. Replace the tank.

Mostly I guess due to very humid conditions and not using it much. Try getting a new starter, might work longer.

She's throwing tantrums because you aren't using her! Same issues with my jeep! You keeping me lying around, I'm gonna make sure you suffer my wrath for ignoring me.

I usually take her out minimum of once / week, if not twice. But running goes down in the rains (open top). Am currently travelling, but the last 2 months have seen lots of media cars which take up my weekends.

Re: Mahindra Classic 4x4. 2.5 Liter Diesel. Back on the road!

With the monsoons over, I have started taking the Jeep out again at nights. 1 week & she's been the steed of choice for 2 nights already . Open top motoring is really something else. Went to Smoke House Deli last night; before I could ask, the valet made the first parking spot available and said "nazar rakhoonga" (I'll keep an eye on her):

Come offroad, its a different animal.

You can say that again! I take her everywhere and she sure is a head-turner. Even women love cruising in it (night time + short distances).

Unless you love it, it's not easy. The Jeep is crude, slow, bumpy and throws tantrums from time to time. But I love her & enjoy cruising in it. Can't explain love, just that she makes me feel real good .

Your Thar feels like an S-Class compared to my basic Jeep.

So true!

You know what's even better? Get the glass frame down too.. It's easy for you since there's no connection to the B-Pillar (?) . After I guess 8 years, I had a drive (For testing out some other aspects of the Jeep) like this and absolutely loved it! Nothing came close to the experience... If it were not for the hanging mudguards and the filters fitted there, I'd have somehow run it for a day.. You have to drive it to belive the fun!

It's an incredible feeling, indeed! Almost like a motorcycle then . Only reason I don't do it is safety, man. Don't want a pebble being shot into my face from the tyre of a car ahead!

Motorcyclists will tell you, a pebble is one of the BETTER things that can hit you in the face. Cattle and/or sheep waste product, angry hornets and bees, sundry food products, chunks of rubber from disintegrated tyres, exhaust pieces including whole silencers, whiskey bottles, sundry truck and auto parts, shoes, birds, mammals, novice levitating sadhus...the list is endless.

Are safety glasses or goggles available around town someplace? I gave up two wheels for 4X4 some time back so I know not.

My baby turns 23 today . The only car I know which can make people from all ages S-M-I-L-E. Two recent pics with some cousins:

A very happy birthday to her GTO.
With each adding year, makes her all the more attractive.
A car that has given you so many memories. May it live forever.
Cheers,
Deepak

A very happy birthday to both of you, GTO! A 23-year long companionship is rare in today's age, where people change cars every couple of years. Also, both of you look like you've stopped ageing completely
