My 4Runner

hi guys,

this is my daily drive '95 toyota 4runner, it runs a 2.8l diesel engine. after all these years i have to say its the most satisfying daily driver i have owned. its not fast by any standard but gives you complete piece of mind and when your stuck in a traffic jam its quite entertaining to see all the other cars roof lines . just got back from a 2500km road trip in himachal and j&k and thats when the true worth of such a car can be realised. (will post pics of the trip soon).

have some plans for it in the long run like a snorkel, driving lamps etc.

have fun...

PS: as you see i am a sucker for stickers

Not so fast buddy !! Let us get over the E-Zen first. Save all the gory details of this monster for a little later. Or else get ready to hear belching & burps !! Over dose of automotive Nirvana.

Cheerzzzzzzzz

Wow, cool ride. who cares if it's not fast when you can reach the destination at the same time as the fast car [people will move out of the way looking at it]

Nice 4runner, I have always liked these.

Wasn't there a black early 90's 4runner in Bombay?

@jaggu- thanks, its done 1,23000km and still going very strong. mechanical spares are not decently priced (ateast cheaper than any ford or skoda sold in india ). and between you and me the oil and diesel filter are the same as the qualis . so every 5000km oil change is a breeze at 750 bucks for both. apart from all this is a toyota so keeps on going..

@dinar- yea it does have a sold road presence.

@spawnofsatan- yea there are quite a few 4runners & hiluxs in the country but most of them are the 2.4td, which isnt a very desirable engine to have. there was a recall on most of the 2.4td's by toyota at a point of time. bharat dabolkar (forgive the spelling) used to have one with a lift kit & huge monster truck like wheels.

@ricky- lol...

That's what I thought - was a little surprised, but then who knows, you are the one that pays for them .

As for the Leh-Kargil pictures, looking forward for you to post them ASAP. What do you mean "waiting for them to come" ? Are they not on your digicam ?

Cheers

Yeah I have seen Bharat Dabholkar's 4 runner several times, not a big fan of the lift kit, probably has never been off road.

Have you though about about some larger tyres?

Nice SUV! Haven't seen too many 4runners in India. Any idea how this holds up to a LC, in terms of 4x4 abilities, cruising comfort etc?

The 4runner is kinda the Grand Daddy of the Qualis. I was driven around in a Black 4Runner once for a couple of days back in the late 90's...Got ALOT of stares on the road that thing!! I remember distinctly, it was Black With Black Wheels A/T tyres and a Black Tint on the Glass!! Looked like a G-Ride!!
