This is a video of the engine start on a cold morning without heating, the the temperature night before was 4 degrees!!! The idle engine doesnt give you any clue but when revved up, the sound is sexy, lot of grunt.

wow, thats amazing. It surely gives up a good start in such a climatic condition.

Hey prmd_cochin,

The engine sounds good. I could relate the clatter to the Isuzu a bit.

Is that so? Have you setup the 4x4? How does it behave?

I am considering a similar setup but an Isuzu trooper drivetrain with stock 550 diffs.

Will bother you once I get the Jeep and start the restoration.

I havnt set up the 4X4 yet, would do that later. Need to drive it for a couple of '000 kms to see if any more work is required.

Isuzu trooper would be nice combo, all the best. Do post the updates and pictures here.

Finally the search for the tyres has end. The answer is a Bridgestone Dueller Scorpio tyre with gypsy rim. The jeep looks awasome drives too good too, except for a squeeling sound from the tyres, something rubbing out there. The interior works are on.

Took it for a ride on a hily terrain yesterday, tarmac ofcourse!!!

Man it couldnt have looked this good coming out of the factory!!! This guy is every bit as good as the legends around him!

When is the Trooper drivetrain going in? This is going to be an interesting 4x4 conversion.

I've got something similar in mind - I've got my hands on the lockable centre diffs and full-time 4wd transfer-case off a Discovery, a vehicle with almost exactly the same gear ratios and suspension setup as my Safari. Hope to bring it down and try converting the Safari into a full-time 4wd with lockable diffs.

prmd, Your jeep is awesome. Silver looks Refreshing!
Do get a Left side ORVM too. Will complete the looks! Also the bonnet/door hinges will look awesome in Black as your front windshield area does!!

I have already done the engine transplant. Its a Nissan 2.5L diesel sourced from Dubai. You will see the photos on the previous pages.

We are still testing it, a few niggles have cropped up especially from the housing and wheel alignment. Well we were focussing all on the engine to get the jeep a refined appearance, but was taken aback by the housing sound. Probably all other guys doing similar excercise can take a note from this.

Yes, but dont know how. Dont want another indicator in there, probably a small white round park light would do the trick.

Well the mirrors are ready, it came in very cheap. INR 140 for two pieces.

hey you can do the following to the slot under the headlights.

you can have smaller lights installed there to compliment the headlights, maybe a smaller set of fog lamps!

not as big as those in the photo, i just wanted you to get an idea....now you got one, you can play around with your thoughts and try out few lights of various sizes.
