This is your wishlist or this is what you think the new MM540 contains? Two winches, SPOA, Snorkel, composite fiber.... all below 7L?

This is what my 550 has/will have in another 30 days. I did not believe that Mahindra would give me what I wanted and hence this effort! Lets see if they prove me wrong. If they can give us most of this for about 7.5L (On road), it may still be worth it. My jeep will end up costing me a little less than half that.

Just had a look at the Mahindra Thar pics in Kiren's post.

How is the driver supposed to reach the 4wd lever?

@GoSlow:

This is a LHD version. We won't have this problem as we'll be sitting on the otherside. Set your worries aside and keep your check ready :-).

It won't be cost effective for Mahindra to redesign the Tranny/T-case combo to bring it to the other side for a handful of LHD export vehicles.

Thar body shell

Is this a sign of things to come??, The THAR i suppose is intended only for European markets (LHD), is this for export to some RHD country or for Indian market? MnM is definitely not supplying body shells as spare parts, which itself can fetch them huge revenues. Going by the pic it looks like a RHD shell with dash panel modified for crde application as in VLX (the holes and bundy tube clip brackets are similar)

i was right in saying in my post #202, that its THAR for india!

now keep the price between 5-6 lakhs and MM will get decent sales of it.

please dont make it limited number only like Legend.

invader, inspire and major have proven that they were not bought by 4WD and offroad lovers because of certain reasons and lack of equipments in these vehicles.

How many people bought Stinger and inspire?

consider this> when people in india can still buy a 20 year old Pajero, why cant offroadies buy a true bred THAT at 5-6 lakhs!

consider this also> the bookings for Toyota Fortuner has shown the craze for SUVs prised around 20Lakhs!

India is now an alive market now for a rightly priced and equipped SWB true offroad 4WD vehicle!

Bring something that can take on MG413W at 50,000 rs plus on its price!

so lets see how THAR is being offered to us Indians! otherwise its back to restoring an ex-army vehicle to a THAR look alike at half the cost!

THAR will certainly give a lot of employment opportunities to Dabwali, Mayapuri etc to launch their own versions of THAR and make some extra Rs!

my 5-6 lakhs are on the table for the MM THAR!

Bring it on MM!

Dear Mahindra (Aka Dhabar sir ),

Recently you introduced a M2di version of the Xylo with the MDI3200 DI Engine, thus succeeded in bringing down the ON-Road price by a good ~1Lakh INR...

If @ all there is one take away from this thread, it is that no amount of technology or frills will SELL in India if the starting point isnt right.

Please explore (I know its already tested by you) a possibility of Thar (2nd engine option) with a M2di engine so that you can bring down the base cost by a good Lakh

I agree with svsantosh's suggestion. The 70 bhp M2DI engine will be the ideal engine for Thar in India. This is a no-nonsense stable as a rock DI engine with good torque and mileage. If it can help make the Thar more affordable, it will be great.
