Went to the workshop on Sunday but dint take any pics of the Rubicon as I was much immersed with the reassembly of my engine
Vinay accompanied me there too, I will ask him to post some pics.
I will post the pics of the engine rebuild in the evening today.

Here is the update.
We (me and Vinay) were at the workshop in the morning but the work couldnt be started till 3 as ustadji was out of station and returned only around 2-2.30 in the afternoon. The work carried on till 8 at night and by the time we guys left we had completed the entire assembly of the engine barring the timing chains, engine head/ head gasket installation etc. Rest everything was done and man these things take alot of time. My cousin told me that the engine would be completed by monday, but I was very busy yesterday and dint get a chance to calla and get the status. Would do it today and update with the pics in the evening.

Hi Guys!

I know, how impatiently we wait for this update. Feels good I am updating this time .

Its an amazing mod going on there. I had no words when I saw that vehicle the first time. Was just stunned. The details that are being taken care of are just amazing. Not only in terms of similarity, but also the mods that are being made to the vehicle. There is also one Willys undergoing conversion to a Ford Mutt parked under heaps of metal waiting for her second stint. I did not clicked it as was not getting a good shot. Will do next time.

So words cant do justice so here goes the pics:

The front spring suspension setup is almost done. Only a few connecting rods are left.

The door arches are modified too. They lean a bit towards the back now.

And a snorkel made by hand. Short simple and functional!

And finally, Ustadji keenly lost in his work. I am sure, Ustadji's hands are no less then precision Robots they use to assemble engines in the assembly line.

Ofcourse, there should be a set of best gas shocks as well! May be from Bilstien or Rancho

Hi Harjeev... looks like the Rubicon conversion has generated a lot of interest on you 550 thread. Good work by the way. Your cousin is very good. Not sure about the snorkel though, looked like a chimney pipe (only my opinion and not meant to offend).

Now, what about the progress on your jeep? Can we please have some updates/ pics?

BTW is the 25th OTR on?

Ankit
The snorkel is a copy of the safari snorkel, the same that Laxman has in its jeep. I dont know and I am not offended by you comment, but can you explain what is the visible difference between the two?
I mean the purpose of the snorkel is to direct and not restrict and raise the air intake to the engine. Right? So if its solving the How does it make a difference.
I am not thinking of adding one to my 550 though!

Here is a pic for comparison

Harjeev,

The rubicon looks very good, but please ask your cousin to get rid of the snorkel or align it better.

Look forward to your 550!

cheers!

Hi Guys!

Yes, the springs will be accompanied by gas shocks, but for now, the stocks shocks have been installed. If you look closely, you can see them hidden behind the springs.

Guys, since its not completly done yet, it looks like one but I am sure, once completly fitted and painted, it will surely look no less then the professional one's. Notice the middle part near the windscreen hinge is not bolted on yet. Its just resting on a single mount and hence is swaying a bit outwards.

Cheers!
