Harjeev paaji, Maypuri is one of the biggest market for the used parts of Jeep and hence we should not compare the prices of Mayapuri (Delhi) and Goa. By paying only 3k more, somebody can have buy them and that too well painted in white.

Unfortunately there are no other options in 16 inch with existing MM540 old type PCD. Hence the rush to army type rims. Regarding heavy duty steering box, our resident jeeper Arka had upgraded the MM540 steering box to Armada type and also upgraded the tie rod ends to that of Armada.

Not satisfied with the super effort required he recently changed the axle and steering set up that of Maxx 4wd.
with regards, vinod
Thanks Vinod. You only re-confirmed the sad news And the type of modification Arka has done, I guess not possible to replicate (or too daring to replicate) for commoners!

As the discussion is on army rims please advise is there any harm of adding a power steering while at the same time running the vehicle on army rims??

BTW! at 5k + shipping its really expensive. Whats the cost of Mahindra ones? they mustt have to supply to the army don't they?
Sir, SirAlec,
It was supposed to be and was started off as a fenders thread....but.
You are right as the cost are definitely on the higher side, in mass production the cost can come down as explained by the fabricator and then again it has to undergo the process of hand finish and paint after the moulding, so it a 4 -5 step job to finish. Now it depends on how much is one willing to pay for their passion. I paid more than 5,250.

New NGCS 550 XDB has revised steering geometry and can take better abuse.
Vinod,
You are right, these rims have been discontinued on army jeeps for more reasons than the PCD is different on the disc brake drums which come in the more later models and more over it seems to me as an improved design. Can you give an insight on the steering system used on army jeeps, and it's availability please?
Thanks

haha, very well said. The 'capability' thing is a highly subjective one though and after a certain level it remain confined only within a handful of people, as in Mr. Arka.

Hello all,

I am new to team-bhp and all this while i have been following the forum on 4x4 as a guest, now i have created a account for myself and also planning to get my jeep done. I am from Bangalore and presently in Delhi on a project, so i had been to Mayapuri in search of few parts for my MM540, the army fender flares are available at mayapuri between 800/- to 1500/- for a set of four, but comparing this one and the army once, i felt Fazal has done a great job, though it is expensive compared to the army flares that we get at mayapuri, the quality of work is better.

Great job Fazal

cheers,

San
