Same question here.

Another thing for a thought - since we see the winch in one of the photos and it might be a OEM, is it possible to get these fitted from any of the Indian M&M dealers? Unless, this is retro-fitted by this specific dealer.

Well SMUR stands for (Service Mobile d'Urgence et de Réanimation)

i.e. Mobile Emergency & Resuscitation Service.

So I'm guessing this is for the French Market?

Or could it be just an aspirational spend of Mahindra's advertising euros, at some European exhibition?

Hey param,
Nice thread man!! The dummy air scoops arent necessary for 2.5 litre CRDe engine. The new VLX has intercooler on top and hence the scorpio in the picture has a dummy air scoop above.

The scorpio flat bed looks so well finished!! Looks purposeful also!
Dont know why we in india get step mptherly treatment even from our home grown manufacturers, TATA's included.

The 4X4 pickup version without Winch is available as Scorpio getaway in India dealers do not stock it normally but you can still buy it. I have seen one in Bangalore Owner had added tarpouline at the back and it was looking more like a LCV.

The Captians seat in 2nd row are available in Scorpio mHawk VLS and VLx in 7 seat configuration with a bench seat in 3ed row. I have personally seen and test driven at Vijay auto in Bangalore. Most Individual buyers prefer 8 seat version.7 Seat version is mostly taken by people buying as company purchase because 8 seat purchased by Companies has to be registered as commercial vehicle.
7 Seat Version in Scorpio Lx does not have Captain's seat in 2nd row.

Simple. Because abroad there is alot of emphasis on quality of the finished product. There is a huge difference int the quality of vehicles and the equipment levels offered there. Here in India however people just take whatever is dished out to them so our own home manufactuers dont bother.

I too thought so till my cousin living in DXB said i10 (other Hyundai products too) have bad built quality and so he didnt even want to check one in India.

How can this be? Only we in India get a better quality from Hyundai?

In the first pic the gap between the rear loading bay and the twin cab is massive. Or is it the photo.

Other then the pickup with the Scorpio front i think all others are an iteration of the Getaway sold in India.

So we do get these in India only one version though. I dont think our next door icecream vendor or goods carried will want a CRDe engined carrier. If it comes at the price of the Bolero camper then we are talking.

Funny thing is that the functional Airscoop ( Top Mounted Intercooler) in mHawk is cited as one of the feature in Scorpio literature provided by company and Sales person tout it as an advantage over safari.

when I told them that your competition has Intercooler since first TCIC version placed near to Radiater in front they grinned and took back thier statement also they agreed that front mounted IC is better but the sales pitch is prepared by companey so they toe the line.

Dont know why we in india get step motherly treatment even from our home grown manufacturers, TATA's included.
Yes there is a step motherly treatment for India is there in all sectors not just automobiles. The MNCs also provide 3ed rate quality in so called 3ed world , the reason is weak consumer protectiona and no punitive damages by courts , usually damages awarded by Consumer courts are in range of
5 to 50K which is not a disincentive enough for companies to provide better quality.

Best Example are airlines such as Lufthansa and United , In the European Sector the planes are newer with leather seats and have individual inflight entertainment where as from Blr - Frankfurt , Bom - frankfurt the planes have fabric seat with overhanging CRTfor Inflight entertainment,
In United I have seen that in Hops from Narita - Honelulu or Narita - LA serving size and beverage quality increases and also individual LCD for each seat , Also the legspace is more in those flights.

Also Take a look at premium pricing in India by Manufacturers such as Sony , Honda , Toyota , Skoda etc. they fleece Indian Consumers by 50 to 75 % despite cheaper components , lower manufacturing and overhead costs and bug market in name of premium pricing.
