It will be great to have such hybrid characteristic. How much did each cost Tarkesh. The side wall is notable, the edges are round like a radial.

Tarkesh,
Congrats for getting the clutch cable and lamda free wheeling hubs. How much did you pay for the hubs?
I thought all the Army 550's are equipped with free wheeling hubs. How come your 550 didnt have it?

Hi JC,

I paid Rs.3500/- for LAMDA FWH and it was there on my 550 but not working/damaged so I had to replace it.

Thats an extremely good rate for a AT tire of that size.
Looking forward for a review.

Looking forward to that review.

I know you know this.. but just to enlighten others. Yours is a JK Tyre - Sand Cum Highway (what a sad name for this tire) not MRF Sandgrip / Apollo Bullet.

I have heard someone else mention Apollo Sandgrip.

What you can get is..

MRF SandGrip
Apollo Bullet
JK Tyre Sand Cum Highway

All very similar thread patterns.

All 3 are hamara Bharathiya AT tires and all have been designed for and have been used on Army vehicles.

Yes Dan,

These 3 are Hamara Bhartiya At tyres. The type is almost same. MRF and Apollo are little bit aggressive in looks. MRF is very difficult to procure , Apollo is rare and takes time to get, same for JK. Atleast we should have these Bharatiya AT tyres available easily to compete the Michellins, BFGs,Yokos of the world.

All the 3 tyres are jointly designed and done R & D by Indian Army and then the design is given to these manufacturers for supply, this is what I come to know from my friend who is colonel in Army.

Earlier JK used to call this tyre as Vikrant (I have 2 stock tyres of JK Vikrant but Bald) but nowadays they call it as Sand Cum Highways

When I was checking of these tyre in Delhi One tyre dealer who deals with Army told me that the performance of JK on road is better than MRF / Apollo later Harjeev also told me that lug of the JK is better even the side wall so I opted for it.

Army tyre options

Please check ou the difference between Apollo bullet and JK sand cum highway. The first pic is that of Harjeevs jeep with apollo and the second that of my team mate Sanjay david in palar. I must say JK sand cum highway isnt that good on slush and is not as tall as Apollo or MRF

Hi Vinod,

The height difference is not there I think the height is same. In fact I have 2 JK and 2 MRFs on my 550 as stock tyres , there is no difference in height. The other jeep you posted is 550?
Regarding slush or OTR performance, the Army tyres are always in question . Doesnt matter I will check the performance and decide .
