Re: Maruti Suzuki Gypsy - Queries

ajay99,
The clock is from Russia, OE for LADA, procured from ebay.uk through a friend in London ! As I mentioned earlier, analog clocks were earlier available in Calcutta market for my earlier MG 410W, but no more. Same on amazon.in, only the LED ones, cheap make but high priced.

As for MG410 parts, depends on your MGP shops. In Calcutta they refuse to keep any Gypsy parts, and will not even accept orders with advance payment.
While I had the 410W I used to complain every time on the Maruti webpage, and the owners of Cal MGP shops would call me up to ask what I needed !
But the complaint system is not there any more, and anyway it is a tiring process. So I rely on the lone shop in Calcutta who stock Gypsy parts, mostly non-MGP.
BOODMO is also an option these days, but they are as bad as the MGP shops for stocking and sending, and more often than not I end up waiting indefinitely and then getting a refund !

Re: Maruti Suzuki Gypsy - Queries

Hello All,
This is my first post here

Could anyone help me understand what these two fuses are for in Euro 3 (2008 model gypsy).
During regular checkups i found the 15A marked fuse is burnt out but everything in the car seems to be working fine.
The fuse diagrams doesn't seem to indicate what these two fuses are for. Kindly help.

Thanks in advance.

Is this an ex Army Gypsy?
In which case they may have modified the electricals a bit.
Im surprised that the 15amp fuse is burned and everything is working fine. Unless something has been given a direct connection.

Anyway I was looking through my Suzuki Samurai Haynes Repair Manual but am unable to find the exact corresponding fuses.
But in general;
Ignition Coil will be 20A and starter fuse can be 15 Amp along with Headlamp and tail lamp and horn and wiper washer fuse also.
Dome , Door switch, internal light, turn indicators etc will have a 10amp fuse.
Battery fuse and all are much higher at 80Amp.

Yes. It's an ex-Army Gypsy.
Even the Gypsy user manual and service manual does not seem to have the info of these two fuses.

Also thanks for the supplementary info regarding other fuse ratings.

These might be for the front Pilot lamps and rear masked light which all Army Gypsys are fitted with.

Yes this can be installed but not recommended.
If you absolutely must, it is better to have a long slider all along the side.
As shown here in this Gypsy.

This footrest is specifically for the front doors, left or right, evident from the brackets. I had to modify the fitting to work for the rear doors of a 5-door metal body. Footrests are more necessary there, owing to the high floor.

Identical footrest is also available for the rear door, with only the bracket different.

The model is copied from those fitted to the Land Rovers of the 1950s -60s.

The above is not an alternative to the rock-slider.
But as a foot rest - this came standard in hard-top version against the passenger door. Go for it - if the requirement is for a foot rest.

For the passenger side - though most of the time it's just me in the Gypsy. The reason for doubt is - I remember seeing similar step at the rear, but not sure if they are the same part/unit that can be placed at the two points.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Gypsy - Queries

Hello folks,

Does removing only the negative terminal of battery to avoid any parasatic drain (parking for a long time like while going on a vacation) cause the Gypsy's ECU to reset and will it lead the ECU to relearn parameters? If so...will it have any negative implications ? Like emissions, bad idling etc. ?

( 2008 bs3 model)
