The tub was indeed off the chassis, i've lost those pics on my old computer. It was re-installed on the chassis with new rubbers and bolts.

UBS sir sent me a PM today and as usual gave his so valuable inputs that has humbled me. I would like to acknowledge him with "Thank You" on this forum.

He's sending me the original Grille after $@~to$# placed a request on my behalf.

Into the Final stages of completion and as on January 27th 2009. I've taken almost 2 months to complete this Willy boy.

Fitting the numerous parts on the jeep started and it almost took us 1 week to get them on. Too much of time was spent in detailing the fittings.

New wiring went into the jeep, Earlier the jeep had some 6 different switches on the dashboard, all went away and we made use of the original single switch that can perform multiple operations. This was some achievement that i am proud of.

Slowly but steadily the jeep started showing up its original colors.

The Willy boy now looked Happy than his old sombre look.

Now comes the last stages of the project.

Now the Willy boy was ready with all fittings and electricals working fine, had a small delay from the upholstery chap. Completed the upholstery using Beige Canvas, with plastic covers inside them.

It was time to run this fellow for roadworthiness, you can say a Test Drive.

There were some trouble with the inlet and exhaust manifold, they were leaking and this made the Willy boy run like a phat-phatiya , removed the manifolds and added new packings.

After all the routine check, i took this guy for a spin with 10 ltrs of Petrol, i've always known that jeeps are petrol guzzlers. took it home a km away from the workshop.

Once this fellow reached home, the first person who saw this (My younger Brother) was so impressed, we immediately set off for some mild offroading. Below are some pics.
The Willy boy ran fine but was always smelling of fuel. Completed our so called off-roading and reached home, it was my kids turn to feel the Willys, boy was'nt she excited to feel the air on her face during the drive.

My mom says where the hell are the lights on the jeep, even though the lights are ON none can see them, it was my turn to explain them step by step on why the lights are in that fashion, they were excited to hear the various functions of those lights, and why is it the windshield folds and what is a siscor top.

I still had not got the stencils painted, this was scheduled for the coming week-end. will post them tomorrow.

Hi Pavan,

The Jeep looks amazing. A very good job done.
Just a small question, is the final coat of paint been sprayed? I mentioned this because where the transmission plates have been put, the paint job there seems to be a bit rough.

Overall, It just rocks. As I said earlier in my PM, I just love the colour.

Neat job Raghavendra, you've earned your Doctorate in restoration if you go by my standards. Sure many of us think on the same lines. Amazing achievement.

And thanks for giving me a sneak peek as to how the final product came up!

From that phone call from the lorry driver to the off roading trip, awesome experience. Enjoyed every bit of it and thank you so much for taking the time out to give me an invaluable experience.

Pavan, Thanks to your effort, the Willys has come a long way from when I first saw it. , the Jeep looks fabulous. Can't wait to see and drive the finished product in person. Your passion and attention to detail is seen in this end product. Well Done Pavan!!!

Pavan has done a lot of reading during the restoration of this Jeep. All the war fittings have been fitted with exact measurements and templates that Pavan found in books and websites. Wonder if he ever studied that way for his exams while he was in college\school...LOL.
