Nope Nitrous , they are all terrain tyres.

My friend has the same tyre in the 235/70/R16 size and he is very happy with them. Reason why I decided to take a risk.
The seats are 100% leather and in pretty good shape.

Are 235/85/16 size tires readily available or did you have to special order them? i was looking for these a while back as these are the best diameter tires to replace the stock army 7.50x16 tires. Nobody had this size in stock when I was looking for it before.

Jyobeb,
It is nice to see the rebuild taking place.
The process of thinking what should go where and collecting everything for the final assault etc. is fun, isn't it?
Those pure leather topped seats look good, I am not so sure about the tyres though,( hope I am proved wrong).
Remember, the main ingredient or component that makes a Jeep or whatever we build come out as good, is the Passion involved.
I see plenty of passion in you and am sure this one will turn out very good when done.
All the very best.

Thanks for your encouragement guys.
I just ran into a problem. I had to change me rear diff housing as the Borg Warner case had the rear drive in a centre position while my diff was offset to the right. I wanted to retain my LSD and thought that i would go ahead and use my crown & Pinion assembly in a commander diif case with full floating axles. However I found that the 550 came with 30 spline axles against the stock Mahindra 18 spline axle. There seem to be no 30 spline axles available for the commander/Armada series. Even the spider on the army 550 diff is completely different from the standard spider.
Now I have sent my diff case to the lathe to remove the side tubes and switch sides so that the diffcase will be offset to the left. It still means that my propeller shaft will not be entirely straight (as in aligned from the gearbox side), but will definitely be better than if it was offset to the right.
Picture are of MM550 army axles 30 spline, stock Mahindra axles 18 spline, the lsd and inside the MM550 spider

Jyobeb,
Can you shed light on the fibre leaf springs? As I see this single leaf, how is it going to be adjustable to our requirements like hard or soft ride?
In my next project I am installing a B10/ Borg-Warner and mating it with a Peugeot 504, desiel, 2300cc. ref. thread: "Engine identification needed".
The rear differential needs to be centre aligned for a BA10, I am learning, why didn't you exchange your right offset one with a centre aligned differential, than go in for the alteration?
Thanks

It will not be adjustable. I hope that it will act like a standard Bolero spring without the friction of the plates

I wanted to retain the LSD and hence all this work.
Thanks
The work is going on at a really slow pace and it is very irritating dealing with incompetent tinkers.

We just discovered that the 2wd MM540 comes with the same differential case as the 4wd, only with the sides reversed. Hence I am going to use the 2wd housing. Only problem is that I will continue to have a semi-floating axle.
I am also fabricating a steel dashboard with wooden fascia for the meters, switches and glove box door. Pictures to follow soon.

That indeed is a good discovery. Never knew it. Also the idea of wooden sections is innovative. Surely it will look unique when finished.

This page is pure education man!

I live to read this stuff. Keep it coming man. Superb job

By the way, if anyone reads this,
What are the disadvantages of the CJ3B in the city and the highway?

On the highway the CJ3B has a low top speed and high vibrations when maintained at top speed, so it is a rattling ride.

What about the city? Other than being open to pollution and stuff like that.

Imagine a CJ3B bare bones, scaring off those swanky cars. Bang some rash cab driver, and then say you look after your repairs and I'll look after mine ;-)

The inherent configuration of CJ3b limits it from being used at a higher speed in highway. Withing the city, i guess, gear-shift will be a major hassle. Though it has only 3 gears but still shifting every time to 1st in a stop-and-go kind of traffic is really messy! Also the original brakes are quite scary in city congestion, unless it is upgraded. Though i personally don't deny the fact that if you are driving one in the city, all eyes will be on you Ideally for multi-purpose optimum use (normal driving + off-roading) a 540/550 with some required modifications is suitable as Mr. jyodeb has described in the 1st post.
