Its about 3 and a half Quintals lighter than the VVt safari, so no doubt it's responsive, And yes, probably all the Xenons given to dealerships are the silver coloured 4x2 doublecabs with these cheap plastic add-ons.
Never mind the rear seat, where even our brave Indian army soldier, who's so used to sitting upright in army trucks, would feel a bit uncomfortable. Atleast they could have tried to pass on a little bit features from the safari. The dash is just too blunt. I mean, the most easy way to discribe it is that the interier does not match the exterior, and it falls way below what you expect after you had a good look at the vehicle.
But still, if i fall out of choices(they aint providing me with a Di powered 4x4 Bolero), then this is what i would have to buy, unless i can bear up the courage to use the jonga as my daily driver

Bolero Di 4wd is available in the base varient. But no PS and A/c.

As far as Xenon goes it is a camping vehicle. Good for those who go on expeditions with lot of luggage which a SUV may not have space for. In India this will be used as a lifestyle vehicle and will never be used as a hard core off roading tool. Seeing the dimensions-

1. Only Good for trail driving (jungle safaris, dune bashing etc)
2. Not good for places with short turning radius off road
3. Long wheel base will make it sit on its belly most of the times.

Verdict - A little more than a Soft roader!

Yes, but still atleast better than a car, lol. Besides, i am one of these idiots who cannot leave things as they are. So if i do get one,(very few possibilities of that, by the way) its not going to remain an independent suspension softy with plastic bumpers and just 31" tires.
The Mahindra guys first told me its possible to get a top model, but latter they said they only have the base model to offer. Nor were they ready to change things and convert it to a top only, even though i was ready to offer them whatever it cost.

Infractions: 0/1 (5)

It is quite sad that a company like Mahindra that has a history of providing 4WD vehicles to Indians including our armed forces have given up on 4WD for the civilian market. I mean how many people are there salivating for a Major or Invadier 4WD? I would have loved to see them put the CRDe engine in the Bolero 4WD rather than the underpowered 68 XD3P. As much much as we complain about Tata motors and their QC atleast they don't ask you to stand on your head to get a 4WD version of the Safari or Xenon.

Haven't checked this site.
But i am confused, how the canopy fit with the pickup/boot area?

When i saw the car in my rear mirror,i thought of Landcruiser.so i gave way to him.
After that only i realized it's TATA Xenon.
I haven't seen any Xenon with Canopy fixed.
It looks really big and Awesome.

Awesome vehicle. I've driven it. I like it without the Canopy. The plastic lining for the loading bay looks cool. I'd choose it over the Safari anyday.
