Is it restricted to same city, or can be in same state ? From your post here, same state looks ok.

It is restricted to the city where the dealer is registered for business.

Hello Jerrycan - thanks for all the info in the preceding pages, it helps to get an idea. Are ALS 4X4 or similar light/medium duty trucks available through disposal? Any idea of the average condition of these vehicles and the rough cost. Can they be registered as private vehicles and insured correctly?

Today I saw a beautiful Airforce blue gypsy at a used car showroom here in Bangalore. Unfortunately, it had a Baleno engine, what a bummer.

Hello, Mr.Kamath, ALS and TATA light commercial vehicles are available thru auction. These vehicles will be in good condition, though not in running condition.
They can be registered as pvt vehicles with some effort. I got two Tata vehicles registered from Chennai.

Thanks a lot for the info. Any idea of the rough amount of work needed to get them running and a rough cost?

Hello Jerrycan, would you know if a Tata TL / Tata Telcoline would be available ? These would be in the General Service category.

Haven't seen any Telco lines in army auctions. But there are a few Tata 207 and Tata Sumo 4 x 4 in service.
TATA 207 is in MES and Sumo 4 x 4 is used as Ambulance.

There are no 207 in upcoming Auctions in March. I will let you know as and when it's listed. Please get in touch with a local army Vehicle Dealer in your Home town. This will ensure hassle free registration.

Re: Jeeps/Gypsy's: All through Army Auctions: What, When, Where, How?

Hello guys,

I'm planning on buying a 2008-2010 ex-army/navy gypsy. Purpose is mainly for fun drives and occasional drive to office. If anyone got any update on where can I get one, possibly closer to my home town Kochi please share it as it will be helpful to reach the goal. I can also stretch out to other places if needed.
I've no issues in rebuilding or restoring to stock state.

Also please shed some light on how much should I be spending on an army vehicle in as is where is condition as well as a dealer registered-ready to transfer ownership condition vehicle.

regards,
winsler

Re: Jeeps/Gypsy's: All through Army Auctions: What, When, Where, How?

Hi guys,

I bought a 2005 MM 550 NGCS from a dealer (who bought it in an army auction) a couple of months ago and now I have restored it ground up, down to every single nut and bolt.

The vehicle was registered by the dealer in Pune and he promptly provided me all documents that were required for me to transfer it to my name in KA. However, the RTO requires a pro-forma invoice of the vehicle (or another MM-550 from 2005) to calculate the road tax. Can anyone help me out with this please?

Thanks,
driving_nomad
