Great Pics Mr Grewal.
Are these photos recent? I have been hearing about some Chinese ingress in this area.
Could you describe the route you took to Khardungla?
What was your experience?

Very nice pics Grewal. Did you get fan fitted or the heating issues were resolved by some other means?

These pics are old and I guess not have shared before here. Two Gurkhas together, one IDI and one DI. Guess makes for rare picture in India at this time at least!

gurkha

With full respect, I don’t think fixing fans for cooling is a solution, the problem is the air congestion, I am Involved in some development program at present and not getting the time to fix the problem,
I will find a state-of-art solution don’t worry
I was deigning a supercharger for my Gurkha, now I’ll get back on it in a few days, the engine is perfect only the in’s and out’s have some flaws
We guys need to sit and talk, some time.
BTW Gurkha has a cold starting problem.
Have to go in a hurry, sorry
Will catch up
Cheers

^^^ Would love to know that. Fortunately fixing of fans has helped me, vikram and santosh in getting down the temperature of the vehicle. But anything better would be welcome. This would help people getting new Gurkhas.

It's good to have someone technical owning one, and we look forward to getting more technicals of gurkha solved. Please Keep us updated with your projects.

Whenever you cross Delhi or we can make a programme to visit some place in Gurkha where we all can connect. It would be good to see 4-5 Gurkhas together.

Rhandle,

You should talk to Dr. jai Kumar ( A very avid Gurkha lover) . He has a 2007 or 2008 model I think . He has done away with all the extra fittings like the front crash guard, side railings etc.

He has upgraded the seats and put a small ladder at the back to reach the top. The front grill has also been modified. He can talk about the Gurkha for hours.

We had a spin in that early this early and I was genuinely surprised by what all it can do.

Have attached his gurkha's pic here.

Could attach only a few pics. He has
1) Willys MB
2) Jonga
3) Gurkha
4) Pajero
5) Gypsy
6) Scorpio

And some more...

Hi,
Having visited this thread and another one "Trax Gurkha - As Good As It Gets" about Gurkha in addition to all other discussion threads about other SUVs/MUVs, I just fell in love with this awesome looking beauty called Gurkha. I got a Diesel Innova (2005) which I now want to sell and replace it with a Gurkha.
I wish to extend a sincere note of thanks to Gurkha, Samurai, Rhandle, Mohan, APSGrewal for detailing so much about Gurkha along with its beautifully clicked pics and also to all those who discussed flaws in this beauty that I just fell in love with it. I discovered what I could not fr so many years; that I always wanted to have vehicle like this. What an irony it has been!
I owe my newly found passion to all of you!
Thanks a bunch!
As soon as the Innova is off, I will buy the Gurkha. I wish they do not make any hi-tech changes in the interiors of Gurkha by the time I buy it as I just want it all raw, to be just a jeep!
So, if all of you make a plan to gather in Delhi with Gurkhas by begining new year, I can be a company.
Many thanks, again.

Lets meet up and I will tell you why not to buy Gurkha

and may be show you along the way why to buy the Gurkha

Join NIOC group and you would see many jeeps and good 4x4 in action which would enable you to compare it and vis a vis other vehicles and ensure you are buying what is logical for you and not just because you have heard about it.

Thanks Rhandle. Thanks for the offer.

Well, the decision of Gurkha was reached after having spent long hours on Team-BHP site at all possible threads about SUVs/MUVs/4X4 for over 3 months and eventually I discovered that I would want a Gurkha for all of its shortcomings that has been discussed by all. So, I will own it for all the troubles that it can offer and all the raw "features" that it has. I am not sure why but, these drawbacks display opportunities & possibilities to me.

I have owned a all raw Bolero (erstwhile SLE), 540DP and a Major lately though I may not have driven them so much as the Innova (1 Lakh Kms). Tatas and Scorpio never appealed to me. Pajeros and the likes are still hi-tech. So, I am left out only with Force; Gamma or Gurkha! I think I am reaching the logical conclusion. Still, the Innova is with me. It has not parted with me, so Gurkha may have to wait a little!

@ Roorkeewal.
The Gurkha has its own inherent strengths and weaknesses.
Its your mindset, where you would like to focus.
Half empty or a half full glass.

The pain and joy ,both you shall have with the Gurkha.

As I type this today,I had both.

I got stranded at a local mechanic,in the sweltering heat ,my hard earned Sunday just because my Gurkha started leaking power steering oil and the chamber was literally empty. The hose was cut ( poor material used). We replaced, topped up ,checked for leakage and then went our way..the painful part.
Today my Gurkha climbed a 60 degree incline 68 feet high, crossed a river, went down deep ruts and finally managed to take me to a place where I wanted to reach(perhaps simple things for others)..the exhilirating moments of simple joy.

At the end of the day, when I reached home,it was a day well lived.

Well, all the best .Till such time that you lay your hand on the Gurkha, bask in the comfort, luxury and dependability of your Innova. With the Gurkha these thing will be history.
