This jeep belongs to my friend who also happens to be my neighbour.

Its been a year since he sourced this jeep a low bonnet and a short chassis.

Though it had a peculiar grey shade on it earlier, somehow he had been using it, but after his advent to T-BHP, he started restoring it, with few of my inputs:)

Particulars:

1) Original engine replaced with a 1500 Isuzu petrol engine.
2) Original seats replaced with bucket seats
3) 4WD gear box replaced with isuzu 2WD gear box
4) Scissor top replaced with Bull bar
5) Original rims replaced with Alloys and big fat tyres
6) Original steering wheel replaced with MOMO steering
7) Original meters replaced with Mahindra 12V meters
8) Original front grill missing and replaced with Mahindra grille

Yes lot of modifications but i felt overall the jeep looked good, It runs well and least,it satisfies his ego.

Look at the alloy wheel caps lol:

Here are the pics.

WOw great looking jeep... bad time to get tempted(recession you see;)

I think tyres could have been better....more offroading (pattern) would have suited the jeep well.

its indeed a beauty. Does this Jeep originally come with a side mounted exhaust canister ?

also - wheels could have been better - somehow chrome does not go well with Jeeps I guess. maybe painting them green would be nice

Looks better than the rubbish they are churning out in Dabwali.

Pavan the Willy's looks good, is your friend planning to take it for a offroad.

Nice restoration job done and any involvement from your side for the restoration or only given inputs.

Presently its a 2WD, hence these tyres were suggested by me.

Originally Willys came with side mounted canister, hence made him retain it that way.

I was only involved in giving directions to his tinker and painter during the process thats all guruve, no restoration from me and my team. Though i would have loved to do so.:)

hi there pavan,

nice jeep!!
only negative point is the grill,
(if no original) dabwali grill will be better then current mahindra one.:uncontrol

Q-was it converted to right hand drive or is it factory one?

Great jeep, the tires and the alloys look good.

Is the ride better with these tires than the stock setup? (I guess it should be)

Hey Pavan,
Jeep looks nice.
But is not a genuine low bonnet.
Cheers

Hi Pavan,

Jeep looks nice. But why did he ditch the 4WD for a 2WD? Any particular reason? Like the alloys and the wide-tires. How is to drive? I assume it doesn't have power steering, so turning those fat tires must give some good exercise.

:OT - Pavan is that your Bug I see in the back-ground in a couple of pics. Which year is it? I am nuts about VW Bugs & Things. Almost cried when I had to sell my 1974 Cabriolet due to my move back to India (was in US for 10 years).

Cheers
Teja

low bonnet with a six spoke grill !!!.. wonder why people swap their beautiful Haurricane engine with some other petrol engines???

finally removed two legs from a mountain goat!!! 4x4 to 4x2 what a shame!!!

Nice Jeep
BTW what lamps are those on the bumper and how much did they cost???

I would like something similar on my 550!

Hey dude :)
Nice high bonnet to low bonnet conversion.
cheers

Sharp looking jeep! IMO,it would look much better with the top down, making it more like a Wrangler. This one has a mixed look, with the blend of old & new !

Was this Jeep a CJ2A ?
Apparently it has been converted from a LHD to a RHD.
What engine does it have, a side valve "Go Devil"engine ? i.e. I mean the original engine, not the ISUZU unit on it now.

How does a Isuzu petrol unit perform on these vehicles ? What km/ lit figures if available ?

Does the other drivetrain system integrate well with this Isuzu engine ?
