My Gypsy Rebuild Project

Check out my Gypsy. It’s a 1994 Gypsy. I bought it from a coffee estate owner near chikmagalur. I bought it 2 months ago (March). The 4x4 is missing. Reason: Need to accommodate one more person in the front. So he has removed the 4x4 gear and placed a small cushion in between the front seat . But luckily he had all the 4x4 thing's kept in his garage. He even gave the soft top. The vehicle is currently undergoing total overhaul in Mysore. It will be ready in next 2 Weeks. I clicked these Snaps on the way to Mysore from chikmagalur.

Soon after buying it, I gave my gypsy for small touch up work (In Mysore) but the tinker brain washed me and took my gypsy for a Repainting

Week 1: All the electrical, Seats have been ripped off.

Earlier I had decided to paint the same color but due to lot of feedbacks/Suggestions from friends and others, I decided to change the entire color. Now it will be painted Red. This task of changing the paint involves a lot of work, as the old paint has to be removed.
Here is the picture of the tinker Imran removing the old blue paint (They heat the Paint and scrap it).

since i work in bangalore, My dad goes every day here to monitor the work progress, If feel sorry for him.
The sticker on the front glass “Hosahalli estate” is her previour owners. Didn’t get time to remove it yet.

In the meen time, I went hunting for a nice set of shoe’s for my lady in JC road, Bangalore. Finially I liked one n asked for the price of the same wheels in many shops. The first guy told 21000Rs, I went enquiring many shops for best price as I was buying 10 set of wheels(My friend Zikrya is also building his gypsy so we decided to buy together as it will be cheaper and easy to bargain)finally I managed to buy the same at 17.5K for a set of 5 wheels.

Now check out the Alloy Wheels

Krishna,

Congrads on your acquisition. If you dont mind, do let us know how much you picked this up for. Also its going to workshop just for the 4x4 parts to be fixed or mods+painting planned?

Edit: That was quick. decent price on the alloys. JC road is the place to go guys! No one can give better deals if you walk around, haggle and bug them.
Nice choice on Tires. All the best. Keep us posted.

It has the original engine, but the pick up is very low. The owner was using Gas.

Remove the gas, do a complete tune up including carb overhaul and valve setting. Also get the compression readings.
