Mandeep & Shubendra, can you please get some engine bay pictures of the Gypsy with Baleno engine?

I am installing the 1.6l engine in my 410W along with 5 Speed King's GB

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/4x4-te...-mg-416-w.html

Any pictures / suggestions/ guidance will be of great help.

Cost of engine is 30-45k for engine alone in Chennai( availability is an issue)
ECM and wiring harness will cost another 15k.

I got an entire Baleno for the project

I agree with that because its a long process and calling people in india every now and then for small small things is very painful task.

Well i am going to india last week of august which is exactly 6-7 weeks from now. But i want the gypsy to run atleast 2 weeks in a row to check for any defects so i have a month to fix engine.

There are quite a lot of them running on Baleno engines. They are christened 416. Search for them on the forum.

I would say that MG416 is a myth (from my search results. )

every one who tells about 416 either has heard of it or or just driven it.
No bhpian got this myth in his garage ?

And those who have seen or driven it never dared to peep under the hood.

Pdev said that he got 3 or 4 416s in his group.
Now Mandeep says that he has driven the myth.

Come on guys.. be factual and post some details

hope that this provocation will work
I desperately need inputs for my 416 project.

stick the original engine of your gypsy and get a FFE, K&N and you add another 10-15 bhp to your gypsy!

Parm: You may get 10% increase in power not 10BHP more.

O yaar 10% of 80 bhp is 8 bph!! get light weight pulleys and shed some weight of the gypsy and it will surely increase power to weight ratio!

I don't think i have a choice as i am running out of time 1 month left to fix the whole Gypsy. The stuff still on plate is:

1) First coat of the paint was done and then putty was applied again, final coat will be done 2 days from now.

2) All the plastic, rubber parts including dasboard will be ordered. I have been telling them to pre-order it before hand but they think it will be available on the shelf (I doubt).

3) I talked to the garage guy and he told me stock engine will be re-build in 2-3 days.

4) Assembling engine and GB and changing altenator to more powerful one.

5)A.C + music system installation. I already had bought Sony player + alpine amp + pioneer 12" woofer. Pic of palyer is attached.

6) Alloys and tyres will be done when i reach there, should be just an hour job.

So will stick with stock setup for now and will start another upgrade project next year which will include:

1) 1.6 Engine Swap
2) Coil Setup
3) Fibre air tight cabin (Liked the way Vaibhav has done)
4) Tonneau for the rear cabin

BTW what is FFE?

Doesn't FFE becomes annoying in long drives when speed is more then 100km/hr?

Welcome to the world of we know best. I had similar problems with my reply when asking the guy to re-cover the seats whilst the other work was going on. Got the usual replies like the seats will get dirty....leaving me thinking who said I wsa going to get them get the covers done and fit them in the car when mechanical work was outstanding. I could easily take the seats home.

Wouldn't it be great if there was a workshop somewhere that could multitask and listen to customers. Can you imagine a desi version of Overhaulin? Would take them a year to finish the car.

Well what was that about wishes and horses and all zat?

When givin the car for the denting painting etc, you should have yanked out the seats and carried them over to the seat experts who would have done that for you.
