Team-BHP - Jeep -Cj340. Heart over Mind

This has been in me from a long time to get a 4 wheel drive and now I think the moment has come. Yet considering the price I am in a fix now.
I have seen a couple of jeeps as of now, and have backed out primarily reason being they were two wheel drive and most of the jeeps were all frills and the prices quoted were way too high.
Yesterday I have seen an absolutely classically well maintained CJ340. This is driven by a Punjabi lady who uses it very sparingly. 1990 model, red and 4 wheel. She is the only person who is driving it and the jeep is in perfect stock, the wheels, hood, seat covers and all are as brand as new. I know this does not make sense yet even the odo shows the genuine run, 98000. The wheels and bumper have benn painted white and she told me they came this way.
I drove it and I must say I feet like in cloud 9. The sense of jeep came over me instantly, I am in love again,
Now for the bitter part. Price 2.50 lakhs and not a rupee less.
Does this make sense.

I am not too keen on the 550. Moreover the CJ340 is a cut chasis and well adapted to the terrain I intend to drive this in.
I know this is a bit too much yet this like a classic and I am hooked to it now.
But I am wondering if I am paying too much.

Also.I know there is a similar thread on this somewhere, is there a difference between the Cl 340, aka classic and the CJ 340 in terms of engine capacity. Would it be possible for me to procure the new instrument cluster,( the complete set housing the lights, I hope you guys know what I mean) of the Classic and have the same fitted on the CJ 340. I will try to get the pictures uploaded of the jeep soon, as I have promised the lady that I would sell it for her even if I do not intend to take it myself.

I think 2.5 is a bit too steep. Plus you obviously have to get everything checked, then you will need new AT tyres (since you intend to take it OTR). You might need to keep 50k aside for all the expenses.
A price of about 1.5L would be nice.

I think the price is way off. Tell her shes dreaming.

It may be in good condition, however even if you apply some decent depreciation to a 19 year old vehicle, which would have sold at 4.5L(?), it would not come anywhere close to even 1.5L.

And I bet its a bone stock 4x4 jeep.

I think that 2.5L is way to much.
I agree with cooldude that 1.5 will be more like it. That too should be a little higher. Another Bhpian picked a CL340 up for less than 1.4L. Checkout his threads and he has just changed the tyres, if I am not wrong and a little mechanical work. Thats it

the price for this jeep cannot be more than 1-1.3 k max, so try to bargain otherwise

dont worry about it cos you never know whats in store for you.

And its cheaper to refurbish Jeeps even if you buy a not very well maintained one.

What are the differences between the Cl340 and the CJ340. I understand the MM Classic 95 and upward was the Cl and Cj made better, a usual Mahindra tactic where they use innocent customers as test mules.

The CJ340 very much exists, and I own one, it came with Peugeot 2112cc XDP diesel engine and 5:38 axle ratio. It was sold between 1989-1994, it was renamed as CL340 in 1995 because Chryster forced Mahindra not to use the term CJ. In the later part of 1996, CL340 underwent major upgrades (disk brakes, better dash, 4.88 axle ratio, etc) and released as CL340 Classic or Mahindra Classic.

There are lots of CJ340s modified to imitate Mahindra Classic.
