The vehicle surely is in great condition as compared to conventional army disposals. Amazing that you drove it back after only basic services in such speed! Best of luck for converting your gypsy into a 'monster'. However its better to use the term 'ex-army' rather than 'army spec'

Thanks Guys!!! Well the pics that i have posted in my first post are after a good cleanup and washing, hence the condition looks better.

By bad condition i was referring to the cosmetic part of it.

At the same time i am convinced that what matters is the mechanical condition which i am sure is very good.

It surely looks good and atleast this is how you got it from the auction. Vehicles available from junk markets like mayapuri etc are totally worked on. the product that we see are totally different than how they are decommissioned from the army!!!

Any luck with the registration???
Yes the registration process is going on and i expect to get the number soon.

Going by the decorative windshield-wipers, I would say it has been used as a CO's(Commanding Officer) vehicle, and thus would have been maintained/used with extra care. Maybe susan3004 can confirm this.

Congrats once again !
That could be the case also because it is a HT.

Well the gypsy is a Monster by itself, but you are right i would like to work on it further and make it a bigger MONSTER.

Hi,
The Gypsy seems to be in a good condition.
Maynot have been used by a CO. Would have been used for usage of officers in higher HQs(side facing rear seats suggest that). There is no sign of a star plate being fitted on either of the bumpers, hence no senior official has used it.
Aperantly, 4X4 has not been used ever and it has been doing road duties.
There would be a symbol on the rear and the front.(The rear is on the left of the vehicle-now painted black. Can you somehow identify as to what was made on it? That will help me in identifying the location of usage.)

Diference between Military specific Gypsies includes additional field area lights and the switch to operate it.Circled in the photo)

Thanx a lot for all the info, will try my best to get the details you have asked for. There are some mounts and holes on the front bumper which may not be visible in the pics(will try to click the pics). Thanks again!!!

KSM-Vtech,

Congratulations on your acquisition. You have begun to understand why you called it monster. Get her ready for next off roading in mumbai-pune circuit. Check if the four wheel drive is working perfect.

gypsy looks very good
surprisingly you got it with its original army numbers and army paint etc- i would have thought for security reasons they would have de-faced the numbers if nothing else.

I only know that the Jeep is from North Vehicle depot and used by Army in Jammu headquarter.
Basically there is 1 Gun like marking and there is no painted as"265" on rear ring.
