What is this Bolero SWB model? I don't see it documented anywhere. What is the wheelbase of this SWB model, and it is available in 4WD?

This is the precise reason for my post, I knew people may not be aware of this model. WB is same as Bolero SLX / Storm, (105.5 " IIRC), it is available in 4WD with DI engine without PS & AC (IIRC)

Dear Spike,

I enquired at TVS, they said they dont have any information on Bolero LX 4wd with Di engine. They also said if you want 4x4 in Bolero with Di engine then the only option is Bolero DI 4wd.

PS: Shackle at the rear of a 4wd Bolero is shorter than that of a 2wd Bolero like SLX or SLE. The leaf spring design is also different, I believe it is to cope with the additional torque generated in 4wd low. I will give you the exact measurements and pictures of the shackle once I reach home, I am travelling right now.

I am somewhat surprised to hear this, I saw a few of them last month also. Let me check again.

Re: Info on Bolero mods

HI Spike,
With LX 4WD Bolero, are you referring to 4WD Invaders?
Same wheelbase as Bolero SLX but with reduced rear overhang?
But the chassis is different?

BTW, Invaders/ Strikers has rear SPoA setups?

Also below site does not contain all the required info about mentioned model, so these models are specialyy made for Govt? Police etc??

i think he is referring to 4x4 invaders.

invader has smaller WB than bolero & also has longer overhang.

yes chassis different . (due to WB , overhang & shorter body)

no, invader/striker have SPuA setup. (spring under axle)

all mm pickups using SFRA axle have SPoA setup.
all mm pickups using FFRA axle have SPuA setup.

its a specially planned publicity scheme by mahindra to misguide buyers so they can invistagate & learn more about their products. (some times with a little help from consumer court.)

Nikhil

Dear Jeepster,

I have seen many MM pickups with SFRA having SPuA setup. I shall try to get some pictues next time I go for service of my Bolero. SPoA comes in Flat bed MM pickups.

Pictures of Bolero 4wd Shackles

Dear All,

Please check the pictures of the front and rear shackles of my Bolero 4wd. The rear ones are shorter than those in a 2wd Bolero and the Leaf spring design is also different.

I also did a small articulation test to determine whether fitment of bigger tyre like 31-10.5-15 will require a negative offset wheels or may be wheel spacers. The result is yes, because there was only one inch clearance inside the wheel arch at the rear with the OE tyre. And under extreme articulation bigger tyre will definitely touch the inside of wheel arches.

Re: Info on Bolero mods

thanks for the pictures.

IMO you can add shackles 1 inch longer than stock. (front & rear respectively)

because your bolero is new you just have to buy longer shackles & fit them. (no bushings & removing u clamps stuff)
simple one hour bolt-on job.

if you dont like the on/off road handling of your bolero you can reverse back to old/stock set up any time.

rgds,
Nikhil

EDIT: i will be doing shackle overhaul tomorrow will up date on my thread. (with longer shackles)

Not all MM pickups using SFRA axle have SPoA setup. Here are the pictures of a MM pickup using SFRA but with SPuA, and it is 4x4.

Info on Bolero mods

I have fitted my Bolero with Geolander AT-S in 31-10.5-15 size. I have slightly re-cambered the front leaf springs and gained a lift of one inch.

Overall, the result after tyre change is a gain of good ground clearance, now the under the diff clearance stands at 225mm.

Re: Info on Bolero mods

How much change in Camber resulted in 1" lift? Is there any change in ride? Any change to shackle?
