I am trying to design something where i dont have to compromise on space.
Oh that would be great. The problem with the driver's cabin is exactly what you mentioned, the foot and pedal space.

Secondly i intend to use the roll cage as the frame for my soft top and if it is in a straight line, the rear passengers might hit their head on the bottom of the frame, another thing that i do not want to do, nor do i want to raise the rear like a gypsy so am confused.

It took me 3 hours to read all the 23 pages associated with your jeep. And to read it would give so much knowledge and pleasure then I cannot imagine the pain, sweat, confusion, money-flow you had to endure. Of course they are insignificant compared to the joy, fun, excitement and adrenalin you would have enjoyed every time the jeep came out of the garage with something new added, repaired or fixed.

I have joined the school that you have graduated from. Lets hope i have the same luck, money and time.

Cheers

Who is graduated!! May be a few classes senior, thats it!! Graduated are the ones who leave the school (of jeeping)...

----------Update--------

Dash wiring/fitting completed and engine fired for the 1st time, just heated once and she started in 1 go -- but smoked enough to shut it down in a few revs. The oil over 2 months must have become grease, but we left it there. Will take care of it while getting a all-fluid change service in a few days. Now breaking my head over the seat frame maker to start the welding and fitting of my seats.

re: 1990 M&M CJ340

The seat frame went kaput, need to remodel a new frame!! So got to attend the 4 wheels - hub greasing and checking all 8 bearings, 8 brake pads, 6 wheel brake cylinders, etc etc...

Got a nasty bill for 4 new bearings (out of 8 bearings)!! Brake pads are super and wont need a check until after AKC trip. So are the wheel cyls. I will get the brake master kit changed since it should be filled with water/muck from last otr's.

Hopefully tommorow will see the use of the radiator flush and engine flush for the 1st time in my jeep...

re: 1990 M&M CJ340

Whole Saturday was spent in completing the hub greasing of rear, cleaning out water!! from rear diff, refilling with new oil, flushing engine with 'engine flush', emptying old muck!!, refilling with 2.5lts of cheap oil to flush out reminder of flush chemicals, refilling with 5lts of Castrol 15w40 new oil, flushing radiator with bardhal radiator flush, cleaning old muck with plain water, refilling with distilled + coolant mix, completing electrical for rear lights, whew!!

Hope to do something new on sunday, lets see.

re: 1990 M&M CJ340

Now I am the party pooper ... , I somehow don't agree with the A pillar. ( unless given some extra support from below )

Sudarshan

P.S. Otherwise the rest of the work looks OK .

re: 1990 M&M CJ340

Hi Sudharshan, no pooper constructive criticism always welcome.

Even before going for the tinker/rebuild I had this hybrid external/internal roll cage in mind. So added a new box/channel for 'below' the a-pillar - so the entire front of the tub is having a extra channel below. Sorry no pics. And the side steps are no longer just a extension of the sheet metal, it is one heavy part of the front of the tub.

Also, to support the weight of the rear base plate for B and C pillars I added a new box under the rear mud-guards. For the rear base plates I am using a SINGLE L-angle, it is a 3 inch by 3inch - 5MM angle - 2 foot in length. By using a single piece of angle I hope that both B and C will take any load without 1 ripping out before the other.
