Opening this thread.

According to 4x4addict master uio has found the first ever civilian MM550 with the New Generation Chasis.
It is a very rare vehicle and jeep enthusiasts will love to talk about this.

So guys, start commenting.

Master UIO.

Congratulations friend. You have the first ever civilian NCGS MM550 on this forum. In fact this is the only civilian one that I have seen in my life.

It is a fantastic vehicle. It does seem to have been an army vehicle which was sold/auction earlier. Still says Class II on it. These vehicles are typically down to Class V when they are auctioned.

You pretty much get everything that many of this forum have been upgrading on their MM550s. Is in the 4+Revers or 5+ reverse gearbox?

Tini,
I believe this is an Army 550 and not civillian one. Look at the black out lights at the rear. Again this is in white colour. I dont think Mahindra ever sold white MM540 to a civillian any time. Looks like this is a Army 550 white in colour. Must have been through auction or some thing and landed with master uio.

This will have KMT 90 gearbox.

p.s - Sateesh you are extremely lucky to have this vehicle. Most of us are waiting to pounce on it when it is auctioned through army

It is a repainted army jeep - atleast looks like that.

Congrats Satheesh for picking up one!

A dumb question though, do you think those are OE rims? I somehow have a feeling they're not.

They look like OE civilian rims, and don't look like the usual OE Army rims .

The rims are civilian. The mine ressitant rims are of much thicker gauge metal,..and the pattern is different.

My views,.. there cannot be just one civilian MM550 sold by M&M.
Hence this is most probably a military diposal jeep sold off earlier due to a massive accident and then worked upon.

Harjeev and myself spotted one such example at mayapuri (2004). It was so busted that we were sure this was dropped while being lifted by a MI-17 or something.

You know what is surprising this jeep has Delhi plates too what are the chances that this is the same piece.

Also on the subject of being rare,..within a few years these NGCS models are going to be flooding Mayapuri and other disposal yards. As off now due to natural life the 2001 models have been hitting Mayapuri.

Harjeev,...bud comments please ?!

This looks like an Army 550 to me too. How come they have the normal discs and not the Army Spec rims?

Rims

@headers , rudrasen, bluethunder
These are scorpio rims as per my knowledge. In 2004 they never came with this pattern. Beejay, the rims you are talking about were on non NGCS Army 550's, similar to Harjeev's 550.
@torque-ative i agree with you about its origin. Now only sateesh can clarify!

Check out the rim difference-

Commander rims cannot take such wide tyre without bulge. See the tyre it fits perfectly. Must be a Scorpio rim. New rims are just of the same pattern.

Didn't The Commander come with 16 x 6.5, 5 stud rims. The Scorpio may have got it from there.

16 x 6.5 is good enough to take that tyre.

Lets wait for the owner to confirm, we might be talking of the same rim that came on both vehicles.
