Now where have i heard something exactly like this??? Oh yeah, its like the Ostrich digs its head into the sand (but the rest of its body above the ground) when it sences danger, thinking that the predator cannot see it. Wow, this is something we can actually expect in India. As always, its again a case of higher up officials messing up with their stupidity and the junior officers paying the price by working twice as hard to gain any good at all.
They should be using Maruti Sedans to complete the camouflage, and leave the white MM550 to civilians.

I mean here we are... Most of us in the section would gladly buy a new MM550 off the factory at 6L, yet we are made to salivate like kids in the candy shop over 5 year old MM550 as if it is a Ferrari Enzo. What a stupid state of affair.

And it would sell. Government agencies would buy it e.g. Forrestry etc. Up north here you see a lot of bling-pimped-out jeeps bopping around, most products of shops in Moga and other places in the Punjab. People love jeeps even if they never go off road with them.

For you marketing guys, you have the proven vehicle, you have many of the parts already in your parts bin, you have the market (small but it is there), all you have to do is sign a few papers and the thing is on the road. Others on the tech side of M&M say over and over, even on this site, that it is marketing that keeps dragging its feet.

They need some Ivy league MBA graduate who has never seen a Jeep upclose to draw some juicy powerpoint/excel sales projection chart before they can believe.

They do not have to do any marketing gimmicks. Look at MUL they are not marketing Gypsy to Civilians, yet available on booking. Probably M&M also can do the same thing. Take out all the military fittings and wirings, then sell to public on Demand. Let them take coupla months to deliver it.

Customers don't need gimmicks, I am saying M&M Marketing folks need to see Ivy league gimmicks to be convinced.

In any company it is the marketing division that decides what product will be released to the public and at what cost.

no need to sell the army jeeps minus the army spec items if there is a problem with that!

anyway army spec jeeps dont carry any classified equipment which can be used to endanger civillians!!

just sell the damn export models to us indians!!

Dear Friends,

You were right in raising the question on the Army Rims. The Rims on my 2004 were Scorpio Rims for some reason. I had trouble with the Tube Nozzles coming out of the Rim holes whereas the 2004 NGCS Rims from Mayapuri allowed the Tube Nozzles to come out easily. This conforms that the Rims on my vehicle were replaced. Now i have the original NGCS RIms.

I will post the pictures.

Thanks ,

Sateesh

Yeah there are MM550 in the civilian markets. infact the 1st jeep I saw was a MM550 civilian but was a MM550 DP. So would this have the XD3P engine or the the same one that comes in the MM540???

Here are some pics that I clicked!

Infractions: 0/1 (5)

Guys:

This topic has been discussed many times before. The 540/550 has nothing to do with powertrain. The 550 has an on-paper increase in seating capacity to avail excise duty concession at that time. 550 also came with the 2.1 liter engine and 4speed gearbox. The power train is usually identified the the characters after the 540/550.

DP = 2.1L Engine and 4+1 Gearbox.
XD = 2.5L Engine and 4.1 Gearbox
XDB = 2.5L Engine and 5+1 (BA10) Gear box.
