Been a lucky day indeed. Seeing this 4WD Scorp in town for some time now. Clicked it before I loose sight of it again.
There are 4 more 4WD Scorps in Coonoor and one is the lovely green which does not come on the Scorpio now.

Original Civilian MM550 4WD from Coonoor

More pictures of the same Jeep will follow. Many here would have seen this Jeep for the Sakleshpur OTR running on NDMS.

I just noticed that the wheels cannot be noticed. The same wheels as the 99 and upwards MM Classic. 235 Tyres. Must mention that this is one hell of a good looking Jeep.

Infractions: 0/2 (8)

the deep green - TUrf Green it was called
My old Bolero was that colour
Unfortunately these chaps have stopped giving us Scorpios in that colour.
the India Garage owner in Bangalore has one in that lovely green and it is a 4WD Scorp. 2004 or 2005 model.

Guys there is a 96 model 4wd 540 for sale in Coonoor. Owner is asking for 1.50L. Guess it can be bargained down.

If this is of interest to anyone here call the owner directly. Ravi- 9842221731.

Munnar

Hi Guys ,

Another Jeep from Nilgiris....

Last month I was in Kerala - Munnar for my HM . We went to Kolukumalai Tea Estate with 1973 CJ3B powered by 540 engine.

The Jeep was indeed in good shape with good working 4X4 and it cruised well to the second highest mountain of south India.

The owner Vergese is a local guide and Jeep enthusiast. Very good and knowledgable guy. He is seen on wheel in third pic with denim Jacket.

Attached are some of the pics.

During my schooling days i used to see an MM DP 540 with "Renegade" sticker on its bonnet most times parked close to the coonoor bus stop, on the road leading to barracks. Any chance you seen that particular jeep. One of the better looking jeeps those times, i am talking about 1992-94 period.

Oh My bad... but as per my knowledge the western ghats(hill ranges) which starts from Maharashtra till the down south it is called Sahyadris and then it is called Nilgiris in KL and TN - I may be wrong though... This is what I heard from the guides at Kolukumalai Tea estate which is actually in TN - Dist - Bodinayaknur ...Pls see the board behind the Jeep of max height.

Interesting thing is this is highest grown tea plantation in the world and also the factory situated at maximum height. and does not have any road from TN , the Tea products go to Munnar(KL) then gets distributed from there.

Tarkesh, the Nilgiris is a district in TN. Otherwise called the Blue Mountains.
Ooty, Coonoor, Kotagiri and Gudalur are the major towns in this district.

Maybe at a point of time it included KL also, however AFAIK it never was.

The pictures are very scenic.

The person who owns this Jeep has another well maintained CJ3B too. Will post picture of that too.

Yes, it runs on the stock engine.

Great to know that it runs on the side valve engine, unlike mine.

Looking forward for CJ3B pictures. I am hooked on to this thread.
