MM550 Army to Civilian Makeover by JeepCaptain

Friends,

Here is my another exciting project -MM550 XD Army to Civilian Makeover!

Well its not 100% my project. Its my brainchild but the full execution is done by fellow bhpian Siva aka Trammway! right from sourcing , rebuilding and testing. A Million thanks to him to make my dream come true! Thank you Siva for all the pain and for your time! Really appreaciate it.

Just to make long story short The 550 was acquired by Siva from a scrap dealer in chennai. It was chosen from a batch of six 550s' and since Siva was the first customer he had the oppurtunity to pick up the best one.

This project was started in mid July and its almost done now except the tyres. But I will be posting the details as and when time permits with pics.

Now let the pics talks.. This is how the 550 was procured.

Just Arrived from Delhi.

Hi JC,

Nice jeep and good body shape! I hope this is the one he picked up for 250K from a Chennai auctioner? Am I right? I remember he mentioned about this jeep somewhere earlier in a thread here

Please do post the pics of latest updates then...

Sali, no bro. Not 250K! we paid 140K in Chennai including registration. I know i paid slightly more. But think about the time and money you have to spend to goto Mayapuri to pick up one plus you add transportation costs ( 18-20K).
The main reason why we choose to pick it up from Chennai was a dealer/vendor who is having lots of 550 parts in the neighborhood(Avadi ) make s big difference when you restoring a 550.
