wow..thanks for sharing.

How does the vehicle run? Does it have too many vibrations? Was it able to keep up a good crusing speed?

It is a Scorpio chassis wearing MM540 skin, expect no vibration. Since it looks like a Jeep, it hardly needs a disguise, it looks like any modded Jeep. Only a very keen eye can make out it is a Thar.

Where was this caught?

this is it guys, this is it!

if this is Thar, and its being tested in india, expect it to go on sale after the auto expo 2010.

i think indian army has decided upon a new vehicle for themselves and M&M is left over with plenty of stock which they are now turning into Thar and releasing in the indian market for civillians to grab it. im sure it will be in limited numbers and highly priced with CRDe engine!

let hope it has real 4x4 off road functional capabilities and not just cosmetic make over bling bling!

keeping my fingers crossed!

The meat of the matter is its common-rail diesel engine. From what I hear, she can cruise at 140 kph all day. One of those rare Jeeps that you can actually use comfortably on the expressway .

@ Mahindra : Either you launch it here or you don't. Best to make a decision once and for all.

I like the @Mahindra part

This is very exciting except that the pricing will be fairly high. Don't think this would be sub-6-6.5 though I am praying it would be!

Isnt it courteous to at least give the link instead of just posting the source. Anyways, This is something we all are looking forward to.

Here is the link. There are some pretty interesting bits regarding the tech specs there.

Good to know that the Thar is being tested. One thing that is out of place is the running board. Look forward to it being available in the market.

Don't they do this kind of road tests before exporting this to Australia then???? Or may be something different for Indian and export version?

I think they might be using different engine tuning as well as suspension seting for the abuse the vehicle is going to be meted out in India. Hence the road test followed by ARAI/VRDE certification and launch into the market.
