So what kind power steering have you fixed on your vehicle? Plus where did you source the hard top?

While cleaning the diesel tubes we had found that the Tank has gone for toss .

Now fitting a new CJ3B tank 35L under the front-passenger seat . Original style.

Money spent again on tinkering and converting it to original style + tank + Labour

I'm not visiting this thread again - as the more I visit the more the expense rocks my life .

Welcome to jeep country mate. It is an expensive hobby :-). I know this first hand. I prefer not to keep track of expenses.

Hi Firoz

It is a re-circulating Ball Type which came in armada grand (Type54)

Rane TRW Steering Systems Limited

Hardtop came with the vehicle 1995 model, later model had different type of hard top.

Kartikeyan, come on, you have just acquired your jeep and have begun working on it. You will feel proud of it a couple of months later!

Can you give more feedback regarding your PS. Behavior at normal speeds, cruising speeds. Behavior while off the road. Any maintenance issues and what all needed to be changed / modified to fit the PS.

You didnt mention 4litre engine from oman!!! include this as well in your future projection...and im sure you are going to rock in the coming OTR

Very comfortable for city especially in parking
When you cruising it becomes very soft and should be handled with real care

Very comfortable in off-road for me but you have a catch there in times you cannot feel the terrain.

Initially had an oil leak from the oil seal changed it once and never had a problem till date.

These are few photos of my jeep and this modification requires skilled labor but there is another option available koyo PS which is cost effective and doesn’t need much modification.

propeller, if I am not wrong, you have a 2.1 Ltr engine. If you have 11:47 (ratio 4.27), it is my favourate ratio for XD3P motor with KMP90 gear box. Mahendran, Nice knowing so much detail about Armada Grand PS. During my visit to local garage, I saw a set of PS pump and main unit (without the pipes) for a asking price of 12K. The best part is that it is visible from outside like Koyo that I have.

DKG, you might wonder that I have tried 3 different differential ratio in my Jeep to obtain the best suitable ratio for my NEED. The available tail and crown ration are as below...

Tail Crown Ratio
8 43 5.38
8 38 4.75
9 44 4.89
9 47 5.22
10 43 4.30
11 47 4.27
11 41 3.73
12 43 3.58
13 46 3.54

4.27:1 - Diesel B275/MDI Engine/S4 Engined vehicles (FJ470DS4) & The CJ4A (F4-134) 1974 onwards.

4.88:1 - MM440 & MM540 (post 1987), Armada Grand, 4x4 MM540s

5.38:1 - Regular Petrol JEEPs/Commander Series with XDP4.9, early MM540, Armada (not Grand), Hurricane

5.89:1 - FJ460DP with XDP4.9

4.27:1 This was usually used on the Hurricane petrol engined vehicles.

5.38:1 This was available on the Commanders and FC/FJ series pickup trucks.

3.54:1 Scorpio - SZ2600 onwards

Consider it as a good surprise! Else it would have required a tow again LOL. As headers said, you will proud of it very soon. SWB is a class of its own off road. On road dont ask me:-))

@desert king- Nice complilation of the the diff ratios and nice to know you prefer 4.27. May be your engine is torquey enough to pull you through all off road situation. But on XDP 2.1litre engine 4.27 will become really underpowered. Behram suggests 5.38 for extreme off road duty.

p.s- I think F4-134 and Hurricane are same. Correct me if iam wrong. Also i thought all Mahindra petrols came with 5.38 and not 4.27.
