Makes sense to just go on and do what you're doing. Be careful when you off road though...you might have to shunt the jeep in the garage for a few weeks if anything crazy happens I tried using just the jeep for everyday + OTR for 2 years...and finally just gave up (or rather gave in - to comfort).

Soon, my jeep is going to look like the one in the picture. Back seats are going into the garage.

Got a few foam board sheets and started on the template.
a week or so later, This template will be redone using sheet alluminium or steel (2-3mm thick).

Attachment 300983

1. Snorkel head procured.
2. AC has to come, but not sure on the brand and other things.
3. Shall procure a Roof mount AC Blower to be fitted just below the B-Pillar facing forward. No blowers under the dash.
4. Flag pole procured.

50K and more.
Once done, i will have a safe, cool and closed cabin. GPS, Drive recording pin hole cam both in front and back and ICE.

Hi krishna,

Long time i heard from you. Yes you can make your jeep good enough for the daily drive. Fit in an a/c and the world would change!! However i would like you to rethink on your semi hard top. You will loose practicality and money for looks! So please evaluate options and spend the money as for what you will be spending for custom hard top you will be able to fit power steering.

I suggest please go in regular soft top and use a transparent partition to keep the a/c for two of you upfront. When required you will have a sheltered rear for the passengers that may accompany you once in a while be it your family or any body else. Strictly a 2 seater vehicle does not work for India specially if it your only vehicle!

If i were the owner of your jeep i would have fitted a hard top with a/c and p/s. Hard top makes vehicle too ugly but believe me the practicality is immense! Still i would be left with 50K more to fit a winch!

I am attaching the picture of a Chennai jeep belonging to Devi Prasad. This Jeep is as good as a Bolero and he doesn't even use a partition to secure a/c! He has a well padded soft top.

Tejas,
What you have spent till now is the buying cost of a Classic! 2, 50,000 was a good purchase cost of your vehicle. New tires are the only big cost i am seeing in your jeep for now.
Congrats again on buying a super jeep.

Why would you service a 14 year old Jeep after every OTR? I get a complete wash & wipe (including underbody for 200 - 300 bucks), but 3.5 grand after an OTR? Can you provide a breakup?

The 3500 was the total service charge for all 10 OTRs till now. So it's 350 per time for underbody cleaning, oiling and greasing.

Updates:

More Jeep garage work: steering linkages, loose propellor shaft, shock bushes, etc. Cost 5900/-

New Tyres (Maxxis Trepador 235/75/15): Cost 24,150/- (including exchange for old ones)

Front facing rear seat: 3500/-

Lambda FWH: 3600/-

Fog Lamps: 1000/- (yet to fit and get relays, etc)

Total: 38150/-

Grand total: Rs. 308,150/-

And why did you sell her? Are you getting a gypsy?
