Hi Parm,

Referring above post no: 403 from Mr. Thar Himself, what do you think those hints may be? well nobody here asked for ABS, but it may be in top end version to attract some class of buyers who like something stylish & Safe (It may even come with airbags for ARAI Safety Ratings).
Also the other hint suggests that it may come in Auto transmission as well. again for same buyers, & its a possibility considering Scorpio 4WD A/T.

Above post is real tricky considering the way Mr. Behram likes to tease us.

lets wait till 24-JAN Bangalore OTR. lets hope more info is revealed there.
I dont understand whats so big deal about keeping things secret? atlleast spec sheet of a basic Thar 4X4 should be revealed by now, if not the price.

All those who are in doubt about the off road and on road prowess of THAR, take a flight, train or whatever and be there in Banglore, it is the best Republic Day gift any you can ask for... just seeing it action.
It will surprise the daylights out of you, take my word for it.

Well well well, if the Thar comes with an Automatic transmission what length of propeller shaft will remain? already i suppose the rear propeller shaft is between 0.5-0.6 m (companion flange to companion flange) is the tunnel casing for AT longer as compared to New generation transmissions?

Regards,
Never raised a doubt about its capability.
But refer to below post# 81 from Rainmaker @ Bangalore OTR Thread, there its mentioned that Thar wont be participating, instead it will be on a display. But it will be really great if we can see the Thar in action. Afterall, it has got some serious engine torque for its weight.

Thats why its better to wait till the actual event itself, who knows if MR. Behram will be there & doing some serious climbs in Thar by himself????

Even if it cant participate officially, atleast all the people there will get a chance to have 'Detailed' look @ itself, have some 'discussions' etc...

well... hope that all will be posted here....

@jeepster:

Very unlikely as the chasis is pretty much a shortened Scorpio chasis. Given the low volumes this will sell, it maynot be financially viable to have too many engine/chasis optiosn. However, I do agree with you that a basic version on shortened Bolero 4WD chasis with Solid axles and OKBJ would have been a nice option for the entry level variant. It would have been cheaper too.

Dear 4x4 addict- if Thar is a shortened scorpio chassis, how come the front and rear tracks are different? Also is there in any Bolero 4WD chassis which comes with C in C construction?

By the way, with the information on this threat, Can I conclude that Thar will NOT be a limited edition??
Quick questions - Will Thar be a production vehicle or a limited edition??

It is not a shortened Scorpio chassis.
It is Hybrid. The front half is Scorpio and the rear half is Bolero.

Fazalbhai, Then I wonder why they went with semi floating at rear as the Bolero comes with fully floating at the rear. If the rear was from the Bolero they may as well have put the fully floating as even the cheapest bolero versions come with the fully floating rear.

So does that mean its c-in-c up front till engine bay & then constant section box till the end. From the underbody pics it looks like so.

Below is the image that might suggest the same fact, as we can see a fish plate as marked. may be that is where the Scorpio's C-in-C chassi & Boleros Constant section Box chassi are welded together. If that is the case , then hope it will take all the beatings of offroading for years to come.

(Note: Again, it may not be the case, as that can be an extra plate welded just to support the body mount pt.?? More can be revealed in Bangalore event)

4x4addict, i think most boleros in domestic market come with a FFRA with 3.73 axle ratio, some pickup models had a 4.27 axle ratio, export models of bolero come with a SFRA (4.3 and 4.55 axles), the reason might be that people over there do not overload the pickups as we do here, gurus what do you say on this?
