Re: Maruti Gypsy Pictures

Its been a good snow year so far and the old girl trudges on. Today was 8-10 inches of fresh powder. The MG410W may not have. bucketloads of power but unlike the MG413W it comes in at a much lower RPM

Re: Maruti Gypsy Pictures

Came across this great video that was shot in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico. You can see the souped-up turbo engined Samurais and a few lifted ones; there’s a whole host of lowered ones too.

The condition of most of these Samurais is amazing especially in light of the fact that most of these are at least 24 or more years old (Suzuki Samurai was discontinued in North America in 1995).

Enjoy…

Re: Maruti Gypsy Pictures

This is a 1990 Maruti Gypsy MG410. I believe it has been a resident car at this road near Oval Maidan, at Fort for several years.

This was the state of the car in June 2018. Poor thing was all rusty and dented, much in need of some TLC!

Well, Good News!!

This picture was taken by a friend a month ago! The car seems to have undergone a nice, much needed restoration

Hi filmaka,

Congrats and that's a very special delivery.

Being un-aware about the gypsy scene, is there A/C system available or is it just the blower vents for customer to fix it later as an accessory? Also does it comes with power steering ? There seems to be no update on any of these in the official website, hence asking.

regards,
winsler

Re: Maruti Gypsy Pictures

Hi Winsler,

Thanks, Yes there is only a functional blower that can be set to hot air, There is no Air Condition and no power steering in the stock vehicle as delivered by the dealer.

Re: Maruti Gypsy Pictures

Hello guys,

I'm planning on buying a 2008-2010 ex-army/navy gypsy. Purpose is mainly for fun drives and occasional drive to office. If anyone got any update on where can I get one, possibly closer to my home town Cochin please share it as it will be helpful to reach the goal. I can also stretch out to other places if needed.
I've no issues in rebuilding or restoring to stock state.

Also please shed some light on how much should I be spending on an army vehicle in as is where is condition as well as a dealer registered-ready to transfer ownership condition vehicle.

regards,
winsler

Re: Maruti Gypsy Pictures

Hi Winsler,

Welcome to the gypsy club. If you are seriously considering to buy a gypsy for restoration, you can look into the " Maruti Suzuki gypsy - queries" topic. That will help you, having said that let me tell you one more thing. If you want the gypsy for purely offroad use only it's a good idea to buy an ex army vehicle and drive as is with minor running work. Should cost under 2 lakhs. But Its always better to buy a good condition, well maintained personal gypsy of 2008-2010 if you plan to use it occasionally or regularly in your day to day life. Because by the time you finish bringing the ex-army gypsy to a restored condition, you would have spent around 4 to 5 lakhs including the price of the vehicle, registration transportation etc. Also those gypsys are really beaten up and needs lods of body work and mechanical works, including the chassis and suspension. I would have suggested you to go for a brand new one but it's no more in sale now.I somehow was able to get one hardtop on March 2019 after writing a mail to the Company directly. I use it as my regular vehicle.I will be buying one used personal gypsy soon myself for rally modification . As you will be driving to office as well do consider buying a good condition personal gypsy which should cost you around 3 to 4 lakhs with lesser work to do on it. Also as this is only a picture sharing topic kindly find the
Maruti Suzuki gypsy - queries topic and post there for better suggestions and options. About spare parts and maintenance, it's very cheap and easily available and you don't have to worry about parts availability for about next 30 years as the Indian army recently ordered about 3000 more vehicles from maruti. Happy driving.

Regards.
Zeus.

Love that bumper with the crazy angled bulbar ! Does not have provision for winch, I think ? Won't sidelight/turn bulb changes be difficult ?
