Thanks. Designed by yours truly.

Winch is one of the last items on my mod list. So, I am not planning to install it within a year or two. However, if I plan so, the bumper can be easily modified to accommodate one. Regarding, the bulb change, yes, a very valid point! I suppose I should order a couple more as spares.

I think the rear bumper is also unique, your design ? Could we see that, please ?

Maruti Gypsy Pictures

I am going to post some pictures here of my restored ex-Forest Service Gypsy King 1.3 litre Petrol MPFI 2005 model for those who enjoy Gypsys.

I call this Gypsy my Green Spitfire. And believe me, it flies.

Ive kept it stock more or less. The only few mods are;

I have had it completely re-tinkered, changed all the rusty underneath panels in the floorboards, changed the bonnet to a new one, got it completely repainted and slowly restored it over 8 long months.

Put in a K&N performance air intake with steel hose, put in these nice new Iridium Spark Plugs. Changed the ignition coils.

Shell V Power Petrol is its only drink. Added in Xado Atomic to juice up the engine.

Added Ceratec Friction Modifier to smoothen it. Put in Xado Gear Box Additive to smoothen the gears and 4WD gearbox.

Added High Octane Boost additive.

Put in a Mild semi free flow exhaust with mild growl end-can.

Placed Monroe Gas Shocks. Changed the leaf springs to original Toyo.

Completely lifted off the body from the chassis and changed every single rubber body mount and every single body bush as also all suspension bushes.

Fuel injectors and throttle body is spanking clean.

Put in a fuel tank metal protector shield.

There are a host of things I did other than this which I have listed down.

This old 2005 Gypsy now performs very well for such an old vehicle. On a straight stretch it can comfortably cross 120kmph.

One day soon, I will write the story of this acquisition which I made in October 2018 and its painstaking restoration over a period of 8 months since then.

I hope you enjoy the Gypsy life, in the normal vicarious manner accorded to all of us members of this August Forum.

Can we have a few pictures inside the hood?

Also, how did the K&N filter affect the performance? Any change in the engine sound you noticed?

Mod Note: Please avoid quoting the entire post when responding

Here you go.

K&N Filter
New Brake Booster
New Iridium Spark Plugs and Ignition coil
Solid metal Fuel Tank guard

Just some of the small enhancements done.

And yes, the K&N Filter does make a difference by pulling in more Air and the Gypsy certainly feels like it is breathing easier. Undoubtedly there is an effect both on performance as well as sound.

Re: Maruti Gypsy Pictures

Awesome car, looks stock and stunning. Even, I have recently acquired the King, which is in stock condition. I am also looking for few mods like K&N filter, suspension and few other things. Do you mind to share the contacts of the seller and garage where you have got all these done? I am looking for reliable mechanic, who understands this machine very well.

Yes of course.
Go to RAC garage in Koramangala behind ThoughtWorks. Contact Ranjith Ballal the owner who is a Gypsy rallyist and expert.
He looks after my Gypsy.
And he is very good indeed.

Re: Maruti Gypsy Pictures

Finally managed the AC on the Gypsy only to figure out that the the blower and part of the ducting were full of dried leaves and other junk that needed to be cleaned out. In a normal Maruti its a simple job of cleaning out the blower from under the dash (I do it myself on my Swift), but for this OE unit one has to remove the bloody dash to access the blower.

Now that the dashboard is out will try and clean up the spaghetti wiring and also do some sound deadening.

Apologize in advance for the bad pics.

Re: Maruti Gypsy Pictures

Yes Rahul
It is indeed a lovely jeep.
Some infidel however, is very jealous of my Green Spitfire and has attempted some sketches of a mountain on my bonnet with a sharp instrument.
So I was forced to get the central portion wrapped at 3M and to put in a slightly cheesy Star sticker on top of the wrap so as to relieve the monotony.

My beloved Green Spitfire.
Sunday Morning Roar!
Waiting patiently while Dad and I were wolfing down some Thatte Idli in Malleshwaram.
Then posing at Nandi Halt. An Idyllic old station near Nandi Hills.
Lying dreaming of days gone by in the dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves...
