Hi Vikram, I may be wrong but I thought Gypsy had an electronic ignition system which does not require a distributor and coil set up, the spark puk works from and electronic ignition module - which is a rectangular box connected to the spark plugs. Or is this aslo called a distributor?

The gypsy posted has been converted from 1300 carb to 1300 mpfi.

Ankit, MPFI vehicles with Electronic Ignitions may or may not require a distributor. In my car(2004 Esteem MPFi), the ECU has no control over the ignition and one can advance/retard the ignition timing. However, in Suzuki cars like Baleno and Swift, the ignition timing is static and one cannot change the ignition timing unless they go in for a Piggy back or Stand alone ECU like Race Dynamics, Haltec etc. A distributorless setup does not have the regular type of Ignition Coil. My previous post has more info on this.

Could you please ask him whats involved in this conversion apart from a swap of head and electrical\electronics? The MPFi head is 16 valve while the carb head is 8 valve. I have heard that pistons also need to be changed if one wants to retain the original 8 valve g13b's block.

thanks ...my dad bot this for the site use... we had to wait for 15days as white n green colours are readyily available.... other colours like silver, red and blue are available but you`ll have to wait for 3months or so... we got it from a mandovi dealer in mangalore... had taken it to coll so all in uniform..... price here is 6L...

That's a great 4x4 you have there my friend. A reliable off-roader that will take you places and not let you down. Enjoy the Gypsy my friend.

Looks like a renewed interest in buying new Gypsies these days -- and that should only increase IF the MUL & their dealers take some interest in selling it .

congratulations!! It is enthusiasts like you who keep the vehicle production alive! You have got a modern classic in your hands. Gypsy which seemed to be overpriced compared to Mahindra counter part some time back suddenly becomes the only choice that can be registered in city with BS 3 engine under 6 lakh bracket and is as affordable as any other basic 4wd available in indian market. Preserve this piece. It is a really neat looking vehicle and the new MPFi engine must be a blast on and off road!

I hope that they have panted a 16v 1.3 liter MPFi engine.
Iam more curious about the wiring part.
the harness layout and ECM positioning.
