Re: Maruti Gypsy Pictures

Wow, that is a supercool looking gypsy.
I enquired at a Bangalore dealer, and understand that only white and military green are available color options. I am thinking of white and most likely end up copying similar stripes :-)

Ohh, the sales guy said green, and 16 years of my early life spent in military establishments immediately took me to 'military green' memories. Guess harvest green must be lighter, but if it aint military green, it doesnt matter anyway.

Re: Maruti Gypsy Pictures

Going through this thread brought back memories of my gypsy.

It was a 88' batch bought second hand in 93', and kept for 5 glorious years. As you can see I spent a significant amount of time and money modifying its looks along with; engine, suspension, brakes, lights, seats, etc. which made it a whole lot nicer to drive on and off road.

Wish I had kept it.

Re: Maruti Gypsy Pictures

A closer look at the interiors, please,keroo1099. Like the dash and underdash, what do you have on the space between the two gear levers ? And the back seat, is it OMNI's? I had that on my MG410W, but changed to Bolero's in the 413W as the latter's seat back can be folded down when there are no rear passengers.
Have you left the dicky area open ? Two possible mods there -- 1) baby seats, 2) giant speakers. I prefer the former as they can be folded up for luggage carrying.

1. The gizmo between the gears is a computer to change the timing curve to suit my driving style. The timing on the distributor was locked, and I could then raise or lower the curve every 500 RPM with the comp.
http://www.manualsdir.com/manuals/33...40.html?page=8
2. The back seat was custom built and had a storage box under the seat which also became the perfect place to mount two front firing speakers. I don't remember if mine folded though, but the front facing rear seats were a lot more comfortable than the regular side facing ones.
3. Was a full closed cab with a regular rear door, but because of the weight of the spare the stupid thing would start rattling even with regular adjustments, so I used a two flip clamps to hold it shut from the inside. Never rattled again.

Re: Maruti Gypsy Pictures

2. Your seat-back of back-seat (!) seems quite low, so no hassles with view out of the rear window, even without being folded. Clever design.

Finally got it, a 1993 MG410W, 1000cc Carb engine. As bare bones as it can get.
Plan is to restore it slowly. Right now getting used to the Gypsy.

Karizma9292 that is one great looking Gypsy.

Can anyone help point me to Garages or Mechanics who can help restore a MG410W in Bangalore.

I paid 1.4 lakh. I know it is on the steeper side, but you don't get any for less than that.

Re: Maruti Gypsy Pictures

Now, that's a nice one. And, am also on the look out for Mechanics / workshops in Bangalore. Not many are even ready to put up the LHS mirror on my brand new one. Wish I get a reliable one soon. Any help is welcome.
