Don't forget 3-link rigid axle with coil spring, front and back.

The torque figures for 1.5L DDiS is 200Nm/1,750KG.
Now convert that offroad in terms of power to weight.

Some Indian sites are estimating around 8lakhs for Petrol & 9Lakhs for DDiS version, That range may deviate buyers to look at other options like Safari & Scorpio.
Better if its kept inline 7lakhs for diesel, will give a solid fight to Thar.

Boss, since when rpm is measured in KGs? BTW, the DDiS model weighs only 1,155Kgs.

I finally sold my EX-Army 99 Gypsy and booked a new Gypsy King, I like the way Gypsy is today and don't expect it to be any better. The only issue i am facing is the red color is not available and white is the only option.

most of the guys have already confirmed that they are going to do something to the gypsy to make it available for sale after April 1. Even if they dont do anything one can easliy be picked up from the non-metros and driven in metros.

Along with BS IV, I hope they do something about the trucks belching out dark black smoke !!!

From what i have heard last week that there is no plan of engine change to K series in near future, so either sale of Gypsies will be restricted to non BSIV cities or they will be re-tuning the same engine.

Same engine with better EGR control and ECU tweak is what is being planned, this is from a MASS person who has some contacts. Again i wont say this is 100% reliable info.

Have been given to understand from a MUL source that the BS4 version of an engine (not specified which one) should be out by late June with the Gypsy. Source is not sure about a replacement, but is definite that the Gypsy will continue in some for or the other.

Same 1.3L petrol engine? They downsized that exact engine and made it emissions-compliant for the Versa / Eeco (now 1.2L)? That means, this is the unit that may find its way into the Gypsy's engine bay too. I doubt Maruti would retain the 1.3L size for the Gypsy, when they've spent all that $$$ into downsizing / tuning it for a far superior seller in the Eeco.

I wish I wish I wish

In 2004-2005 I saw the Jimny in the Koramangala Indoor Stadium at an Auto Show.
Very cute indeed.

With a DDIS engine and 4x4 it will be a GEM! Ideal for City + adventure trails for a small family with luggage.

Yes It could cause the untimely death of Premier Rio and definitely wean quite a number of consumers away from the Mahindra Thar offering as well.

I mean, the DDiS Jimny is exactly what we offroaders need. It as small as Santro, light as Gypsy, so it will fit into our offroad trails splendidly. And it can be used as family vehicle thanks to lockable cabin and comforts. Add some offroad accessories like lift-kits, sliders, skid plates & mud tyres. It will be the perfect family offroader we were waiting for ever. Even the petrol version would be acceptable in our given situation.
