We'll leave it on there for a while and if required, painting it black isn't a problem. Allan is still experimenting with "HOW do you, for the love of GOD!, make a Hard-Top Gypsy look good!"

Well it looks a damn sight better than it did before the upgrades...thats for sure. Next year I will be getting a metal half-cabin made with a short flat-bed in the rear.

Yes...we've discussed that and we'll get it done next year. I want to get it made out of Aluminum to keep the weight low and I want to incorporate a sun-roof in it as well since the top will no longer be detatchable. Roll-cage will also go into it along with a secondary fuel tank and storage for:

1. Engine Oil
2. Diff/X'fer case Oil
3. Front Axles
4. Rear Axles
5. Clutch Plates and Pressure Plates
6. 4WD Selector Bush
7. X'fer case Bush
8. Open differential inner components
9. Spare tire
10. Air Compressor
11. Other spares....

Re: Which 4x4 should I buy : Thinking out aloud. EDIT : Finalised on a white Gypsy!

if guru, had is way
the entire car would be orange by now, including the windows, wheels, engine and seats.

that apart, after the tire and wheel issue is sorted next step in 2012 would be a custom hard top never seen before
for now we stop at this

2011 brother...you skipped a year. You don't want to see me for 12 months kya? We'll do the custom HT with sunroof in 2011 winter. It will be Sara Xtreme 4x4 custom spec and something nobody has ever done before.

Lets white-board it this weekend

yes left to me I would have wanted an Orange Gypsy My fascination has no outlet now that GoldSpot has been discontinued!!

While you are at it, why not storage for 4 spare tyres instead of one (switch terrains, switch tyres), cubby holes for nuts and bolts and a sliding window with a neon 'Open' sign at the back so that you can sell emergency parts at the next OTR!

And one more thing, you forgot the AXE effect and an even larger battery powered icebox!

Guys - desperately need your help in getting 5 MT tires in 235-75-R15.

Either Trepador or GT Savero will do nicely...Need the tires in Mumbai.

Please help!

Re: Which 4x4 should I buy : Thinking out aloud. EDIT : Finalised on a white Gypsy!

Finally!

I got my Trepadors (235-75-R15) and after a long hunt for Alloys/Rims I settled for these HR 15" 7J 5-Spoke rims. I tried 8J and 8.5J but they were too big for the 235s.

This is pretty close to the final look of the Gypsy. In the second phase I will be adding the all-around bumpers (protecting fenders) and in the 3rd phase I will be adding the roll-cage and half-cabin.

From an internal mod perspective in the 3rd phase I will be adding the 4.16 crawler ratios, heavy-duty axles, heavy-duty transfer case mounts, heavy-duty clutch and winch.

Some pictures for now:

Looking nice baby! Is there a way you can do surgery on the rear half of the Hard top and make it flat. Then it will be awesome!

Jaggu - not possible as it is a double layer fiberglass. I am getting a half-cabin made similar to the one on Spidey.

Arghh i hate that, go for fiberglass and proper roll cage inside. Am sure you will have good fiber glass guys there.
