Beginning the journey from 'human' to 'gypsy' life!

So, guys this is it! This is when I turn the ignition on to begin my journey from human to gypsy life. And, believe me, when I say that all of you are to blame for me being in this mess! For you inspired me to go in for a 'torture' called restoration. I've always been a gypsy enthusiast, but it was my visits to Team-BHP that made me a convert. Having driven cars for over 14 years now, I've finally decided to become a gypsy!

Just to give you an understanding of what I'll be using my gypsy for: I've never done an OTR, so at present I don't see myself doing an OTR (as for the future, no one can say!). I'll primarily be driving my gypsy for regular commute to office and an occasional road trip to Himachal or Rajasthan.

Did scout around Delhi-NCR for a couple of years, but never found a gypsy that I felt like picking up straightaway. The ones that were available cheap, I didn't like; the ones I liked were always very expensive. Then during my visits to Team-BHP I figured out that there was a 'torturous' way of getting the vehicles from places like Mayapuri, and another 'hellish' way was to go and participate in the government auctions. Well, in true Team-BHP tradition, chose the latter and decided to go in for the auctions. It indeed was 'quite an experience' (however, that's another story for another day)

Am glad to share with you that I'm finally a proud owner of a 2002 MG413 hard top. The auction was held last month and I've deposited the money and should be getting the gypsy later this week. Can't wait to get my hands on it and begin the restoration.

My initial plan is to restore it to road-worthy condition. During this phase, the focus will only be to sort out the mechanical issues, the cosmetics can come later. Experts please suggest how to go about it, and please if I can do something differently, pls do let me know.

My first task is to get the pictures and upload it the moment I get delivery of the gypsy, so that your comments can start flowing in.

So, here's to beginning a great journey, and hoping for a smooth ride!

Congrats my friend. The Gypsy looks to be in reasonably good condition and it is an MPFI :-). Looks like you will have to invest in a battery (unless it is kept somewhere else).

A quick fluid change (engine oil, t-case oil, diff oil, coolant/flush) + new tyres and you will be ready to rock & roll.

Congrats again and have fun.

Congratulations! Looks great. As soon you get the vehicle remove the lamp on top and plug the holes. Good battery and tyres should be sufficient unless you notice some problem. I see that the glove box cover is missing. Change the dashboard cover, should be costing around 2.5k from MASS

It is a clean gypsy. Hope you have less work to get it on road. Where is the battery? Taken by the "authorities"
