The DOG: Is this the Ultimate CJ3B build?

ICON 4X4 is founded by Jonathan Ward and his work on the CJ3B is astonishing.
Oh by the way, Jonathan has fondly named it THE DOG !!

This build starts with a completely in-house-designed mandrel bent steel frame
The suspension consists of four two-inch Fox Racing struts with remote nitrogen reservoirs.
The rear end is a four-way multi-link while the front consists of a panhard-type linkage, with bushingless Johnny Joints holding the control arms in place.
All of this adds up to an almost unbelievable 24.5-inches of suspension travel per wheel, front and back. For comparison's sake.
The axles are Dana 44s.
Powering the CJ3B is a General Motors EcoTec 2.4-liter straight-four that develops 210 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque.
with a weight of only 2,900 pounds the performance is peppy, easily getting up to and maintaining freeway speeds. the 4 cyl mill is quite well suited to crawling along a trail at three miles per hour.

All that suspension travel combined with 33-inch tires, 4:10.1 axles, 2.72:1 low range gears and two locking differentials (you can lock just the rear or both with the flip of a switch) means the CJ3B can almost go anywhere.
It boasts of 45-degree approach and departure angles !!

We had encountered this Jeep photo online in another discussion elsewhere. But nice to see the details behind the very impressively put-together CJ3B !

Great looking Jeep. Very tastefully done up. Simplistic, yet oozing with character.

GM makes a 2.4 with 210 horses on tap? That's 87.5 BHP per liter. Which engine is this, I'd love to know.

It's from their ECO tec range launched in 2000, in their SMALL cars. the engine family ranges from1.8L to 2.4 L, It's done with help from Opel and was worked upon by Lotus used in cars like Cobalt, cavalier,Neon ,etc also used By Holden in Australia and Opel in Europe.
The engine is versatile enough to go from a NA to turbo to even supercharged with same block.
A 2.0L engine with supercharger is used the US spec Aerial Atom. producing 300BHP

The 2.4L comes with VVT to improve the figures.Hnece the Power outputs.

A little O.T. Whats the power output of Lancer EVO's 2ltr engines? I think those are DOHC MIVEC Units & can be tweaked to get 300+ BHPs.
Stock giving 200 something?

i think this retails for over $ 85,000. Can you really call this a CJ3B? it just looks like one but has nothing else in common with the original. Ultimate CJ3B replica possibly.

In N.m

195 lbs-ft. converts to 264.384499916 N-m. of Torque.

Not bad at all

How does this compare to the Hurricane? If I'm not mistaken, the Hurricane had 75 odd bhp. Any idea about the torque figures?

Hurricane had many versions.

the first model F134 produced about 155 Nm.

That is 70% more expensive than Bowler Wildcat (world's best 4WD offroader), I don't know how they can justify that price.
