Hi,

Posting this on behalf of my Bro Shiva Kumar as his ID creation on T-Bhp didn’t go through !!!

I know Its Raining Gypsy's on Team Bhp

My Bro Shiv has been a Gypsy fanatic for almost the last 10+ years and always wanted to own one.
After his Marriage a couple of years ago, he bought Zen Estilo, while I was out of country traveling, Courtesy: it was his wife’s Dream 4 wheeler.

He would take Me out to see numerous 2nd had Gypsy’s & about 2 months ago he found a 1996 that was in reasonable good shape.
After much deliberation at home (MoM opposing 2nd 4 wheeler as we have no space to park it), the Mech after checking approving only for 85K.
I had also taken Mom out on a hired jeep ride, up the Kodachadri Hill & She now kind of knows what Off roading means & is really worried about it.
Me says Only 413 MPFI not any other model, or give away the Zen for 3L & go in for a New MG413.

But “LOVE is BLIND” & so was my Bro, he fell for the white 1996 MG410 ST.

It has spent about a month in the garage & is now completely restored (Engine still heating up in traffic jams)
List of thing done:
1. New Radiator
2. New 4 Shock absorbs
3. Five Tyres 235x15x75 BF good rich (18,500 INR)
4. New front & real axle with new star joints.
5. New Soft top (3700 INR)
6. New Oil & Air filter
7. New center locking installed (Auto cop) (3,500 INR)
8. New Clutch plates (5000 app)
Lots of repair like (Summing up to a total of 25K INR)
  1. Seat fittings / mountings
  2. Hand break
  3. All Oil change
  4. Both Gearbox reset
  5. Steering box reset
  6. Rear Door calipers resetting
  7. Fuel lines & filter replace
  8. Piston rings replaced
  9. Many coupling rubber replaced
  10. Wheel hubs cleaned
  11. Brake pads replaced
  12. Lockable glove box (dash board) lid replaced
  13. m.Many electrical fittings wires & switches replaced
We recently met Rattan tatsago at his residence & had a small photo shoot of his BRAND New Green MG413W with My Bro’s side by side to help compare some stuff.

What was the reason for changing both the axles? . How much both of them costs? The Gypsy has came out really nice &those BFG's surely gives it a nice look.
Congrats to you & ur bro.

BTW, Is that a gear 'Handle'? Something like on the aeroplanes?

@Offroad Maniac the seller promised to give the front drive shaft & later said he misplaced it & the rear drive shaft had been welded too, so we replaced both, I do not have the cost for the same, once get the list from garage will upload it here.

Its a Hurst shifter, the grip is good but didn't like the quality, more plastikish

@ Pramod we strike a deal with Sandeep who bids for Army disposal vehicles regularly & sells them later, he wanted 2L but we settled at 1.55L, My bro has spent a LOT on restoration
25K bill from garage
18K fro tyres
4k Soft top
3K auto cop

Almost 50K till now so its 1.55L +50K = 2.05L

Thats little high for a 96 model ex service vehicle. I am assuming he restored her to the present condition, but even then 200k for a 96 ex service gypsy is little high . Example

yes but you should see the cooper discoverer stt tyre mud terrain
he was quoting 8500 per tyre & 4550 for the BF Goodrich.
Cooper Tires - Discoverer STT - On/Off-Road Tires

Correction Guys :
we only got 4 tyres for 18200 so 18200/4 = 4550 per tyre of BF goodRich 235X15X75

Sweet looking ride! The way you bought it also looks quite clean so why the laundry list of fixes? Are we missing something here?

@ rajachu I am out to River Turn Lodge JLR & then to Kudremukha this long weekend, Also Rattan mentioned his availability next week.

@rmonie, the guy who bough it from Navy has only fixed it superficially, thats why it looks sweet, my Bro had to do the entire list to make it road worthy, we probably need to do more to make it off road worthy !!

Cheers
