How much flex is lost due to the rigid tail gate? I am sure at least a little...

The chassis flex, if lost should be close to negligible. As the top most area of the tub (tailgate area) would still flex by an inch or two even without the open-able tail gate as the tub flexes and twists along with the chassis.

That gate less design, I have incorporated from Ford. That is the only way to beat the noise and rattle in the tail gate, which crops up in no time, especially after OTR's.

The bonnet now nearly finished and windshield in place gives some shape to it. Seat is not fixed, just placed. The two black (windshield and grille) are the only surviving parts from the original 340, internal, external and mechanical.

Also i see lot of holes in the chassis, isnt it better all those are covered up?

^^ On a stock Chassis, manufacturer provided holes are for a reason. If possible, leave them as it is.

2. Draining Dust and grime out after a water wash.
3. Reduce body weight
4. Improve power / torque to weight ratios
5. To add all fancy attachments for various regulating bodies

Just observed on the wind screen those chrome grab handles

. I hope you are going to do away with those?
Read earlier you were planning on the roll cage? what kind are you planning to make it? You could integrate these handles in the cage.

@Jaggu, as I said earlier they are there for a purpose. Some are tooling holes, pilot holes, tool access holes, mounting holes, stress relieving holes / slots / notches etc. They can be covered up but nothing substantial will come out of it.

Yes, thats very true.

One more thing missed, they are holes for both, RHD and LHD fittings on the chassis, depending on the country they would be exported to during WWII.

No point in covering the holes and putting the chassis to the torch. Previous chassis was drilled with holes more than acceptable limits something like "HULLO WHERE IS THE CHASSIS????", hence the change.

technical stuff goes way over my head
the jeep's shaping up grt, one peeve though
pls get rid of the handles on the wind shield
happy build, will see the pup when i come over to hyd next

The handles on the windshield are there since I bought the Jeep.
Planning grab handles on the roll frame like the DOG.
The Pup, I thought was a Dog, but as it grew up...realized its a cat, and is now rechristened the 'LYNX'.

BTW, we are talking about an antiquated design where the rules were different - It cannot be accepted in todays day and age! Hence Gromets were born [Dont shoot me - this aint from Wiki!!]
