Picked up a CJ3B 1972 Model Yesterday !!!

Hi Folks,

We picked up a 1972 Model CJ3B Jeep for my cousin yesterday.
The jeep was originally a petrol one, then was converted to diesel.
Now powered with the Peugeot diesel engine.
4x4 working condition with Gypsy wheels and all good tires.

Papers are neat except insurance.
This was with a politician .... lucky we got it.

The hunt from nearly 6 months has come to an END.

Here are some pics, sorry for the poor quality.

This is my cousin, the future Team-Bhp member.

Addition to this i need some clarifications on the temperature ... what is the normal running temperature of this one ?

Congratulations. Your cousin also looks the part of a potential politician. The normal running temperature should be 80 degrees.

Nice. Needs a lot of work though from the looks of it - getting it back to stock that is.

Why are Maruti Authorised Personnel crawling all over it?

Congrats, nice Jeep and cousin.
Its CJ3B time on T-BHP I guess after Gypsy. Thanks to DKG.
Really, why are they trying to pin down your CJ3B?

Jai Ganesh- At last Arul did pick up a JEEP!!

Guys - 'Arul' AKA the new owner, had been in the lookout for a jeep since 3-4 years IIRC. The story about the MASS guys all over the Jeep is very funny. Just learnt from owner that the jeep was part of a election rally for the ruling party in TN. You can't imagine the size of the SUN and other graffiti ALL OVER the front, also the RED color is to support the ads.

Lets meet up Jai/Arul...

Right said Santhosh. As the jeep was with a politician, it was completely stickered in the front. I have a friend who owns a Maruti workshop, so got there for removing the stickers quickly. It was a painful job infact.

All of the jeep is Red and Black including the seat covers.

The Jeep heats up to 90, however we did not let it go further.
Filled water for emergency again when found less and stopped for sometime.

Is there a possibility of a bad radiator ?? Does it drink lot of water if its bad ?

Jai, just spoke to Arul. Dont do anything else. If not my desktop knowledge, I will at least take you to my mech and get all things prioritized and sorted out. Am worried that its drinking a lot of water!! What checks did you guys do before zeroing on this Jeep? Dont rush to change the radiator. And please dont play around and get stuck in 'low' on hard roads (like a few hours earlier). Whats with the wheel wobble too? What sort of wobbling/pulling did you experience?
