Dear DB Sir, so its official now!! I was thinking its just another rumour. All the Best for 4x4 Bolero storm. Do you have any launch dates?? I know its too early but just curious. See below for reasons for my curiousity.

Honorary Member - BBC ( Bangalore Bolero Club)
Founding member- Cochin Bolero Club
Bolero GLX- 2001 ( sold after clocking 255,000 km)
Bolero SLX 2009 40K driven and counting

I really wanted to go for 4x4 Bolero last year when i was buying one and did test drive on both 4x4 models available. The basic ( fleet model) was lacking PS was looking dated atleast from inside and the top of the range had a older Peugeot power plant ( not the refined DI Turbo) and was not a VFM considering its 7L plus cost on the road. Both 4x4 versions of Bolero were disappointing and had to be settle down for a 2WD SLX and I was forced to use my MM550, CJ3B and Armada 4x4 for my offroading requirements ( read OTR's and farming)

So please give a storm 4x4 soon to replace my 2WD SLX DI Turbo.

Jp1, Thanks for starting this thread.

Shibu
Just attaching some pics of my 2009 SLX.

ABS with EBD will be good.

A storm 4wd should not have IFS but solid axle coil spring !!! Ofcourse M&M's suspension department will have to start working then

+ A Diff lock Front and Rear [as the Gurkha]
+ removable running boards [foot steps or whatever its called]. This is the first casualty.
+ Front and rear tow hooks
+ EX SHR price of 7L maxxx.

Thank you Spike,
I am still running on OE tyres Bridgestone 215/75/R15 and its done 40K and due for replacement. The tyre is looking bigger bcos of the PLATI 8J alloy wheels.
Well, I think I should ask GTO to increase the text limitation of our signature so that I can add all my rigs here. .
I Guess you know the count and the types already!! Didnt I send you a pm once?

Yes I do remember, those alloys are 8J? Does the tyre seat properly on the alloys?

Spike

OT- Bridgestone OE tyres are not tubeless, how have you manage to seal the tyre and alloy assembly? Tyre carcass is different for a tubeless and tube type tyre.

The above applies for the IFS 4WD.

It will Sell! because nearest thing is five or ten times expensive.

Its easier for Mahindra people to Call Borg warner people and say bhai "Panch hajar 4wd shifter system Bhejo" than to so some real mehnat and R&D on a 4wd mechanism.

In a thread somewhere I did showed how they work hard to create the long body of Mahindra Maxx.

Behram sir,
Thank you for considering our requirements and also endorsing this thread. I am sure, whatever feasible will be done, keeping in mind the diverse requirements of various sectors, but end of the day it has to make financial sense to MM. My request is to keep the improvements to minimal comparing the current 2wd Bolero. We do not need sophisticated stuff, simple, practical, easy to maintain stuff. End of the day, what I am looking for a descent family car which can seat comfortably 5 people with a 'Go anywhere' attitude. That sums up the Storm 4wd requirement.

jp
All the best for your efforts.

IMO, At 8L many people will consider this as their primary vehicle and that increases the sales. But if anything beyond we have lot of options, like Innova Base model, E2-E4 Xylo, Tavera, Scorpio and Safari.

I think: The Bolero Storm 2WD can give competetion to the Chevy Tavera as it has got

1. A better engine
2. A more rugged body
3. Cheaper spares

However, the chevy tavera is

1. Easier to drive
2. More fuel efficient than the Storm
3. Has a better fit and finish and name for itself.

Tavera and Bolero storm is not in competition in any form! Plus you cannot buy a Tavera in Metro's any more. It is not BS 4 compliant! Plus they don't plan to make it in 4wd.

Tavera can compete with Bolero XL/ Plus and Sumo. Headers you forgot to mention space as a primary advantage of Tavera against Bolero in any form.

p.s- One primary requirement i can see reading through Thar thread and this one is lot many people want solid axle coil spring in Mahindra 4wd's. I know it is not possible in Bolero storm immediately but future 4wd's from M&M must have this essential attribute. I think its time to copy Wrangler Rubicon suspension now

One question pls. Is The Wheelbase of DI 4X4 & SLX 4X4 same?

In specs sheet its mentioned as 2794mm for DI & 2680mm for SLX
Both are 7 seaters only? Or is DI a more longer than SLX.

On the looks both looks same, dimension wise..

Note: 2794 wheelbase is of Bolero Plus

All Bolero DI have same wheelbase - 2670/2680mm except Bolero DI turbo plus-2794/2800mm. Bolero comes with three 4wd variants. 2 are called LX and SLX respectively with XD3P engines and 1 is called as Di Turbo. IIRC, among these SLX comes with electric shift t/c rest 2 are manual shift t/c.
