Allan, what ive seen, read and heard is that a bodylift poses problems of its own especially if the steering linkages, etc dont turn out to be correct. These need to be matched with the maximum articulation of the suspension from all angles.
In commercial suv's like the Scorpio and Safari, this becomes crucial since they are capable for far greater speeds and spend most of their time onroad gobbling up more miles than a custom offroad specific machine like a gypsy/jeep.

A suspension lift is a better way to go about it, if you want to improve stance and also articulation, and eliminate steering or related issues from cropping up with routine usage.

The experts might be able to provide more reliable opinion.

@extreme power. The Tata Safari club in italy sells two suspension lift kits for the Safari. The cheaper one is some poly bushes that you put below the springs but use the stock springs. The more expensive one comes with longer rear springs, 4 gas shocks, and extensions for the traction bar. Front can be lifted easily by torsion bar adjustments. You could plan on these lines for the suspension lift of the Scorpio. If you do design a good kit, I'd like to buy one too :-). Scorpio's GC is not that great. Apparently CMVR won't let Mahindra give Scoripio same ground clearance as Safari.

2. You know well that technically speaking, the body lift kit will not help to increase the GC.

@Dessert King: I was only joking about the Central Motor Vehicle Research Center.

2) Suspension lift kits don't increase the GC, but it helps with the approach/departure/ and break over angles.

i was referring to max overall diameter of Tyre in the stock scorpio .
the tyres in look smaller in diameter then 245/75/r16.
they might be in 70/65 side wall ratio.
with some trimming on body i think it is possible to fit 275/75/r16.

The Scropios in BLR failed in a few OTR due to the electronic transfer case then latter they had to be converted to mannual one's, may be you should take a look at that too in the list of modifications you are doing....

finally a few pictures.
roll cage work completed,
next is the rock sliders, and final touches on the winch bumper,
major work is going into designing a very very strong skid plate cause my oil cooler is mounted right there,
trying to keep away from a suspension lift as of now to avoid problems of body roll, steering geometry changes etc,
free wheeling hubs will go on for sure as well

yes thats the intention so far, heard the auto locking ones have a mind of their own depending upon the amount of slush, durt etc, basically they can be adamant

rear bumper will be given a dose of plastic-removal
