Great work, definitely this project will be setting standards - particularly on underbody protection.

Any axle breather extension modification? Would be also quite interesting if you can manage to hold on to the GC of scorpio or even increase it - stock comes with some not so desirable GC of 180 [?] mm.

hey allan! a wonder full job.

The design is very innovative. But i have following doubt.
Is this guard bolted on the rear axle. But where is the other end of this guard bolted? to the cross member of chassis?

I am not an engineer but are you bolting a guard to Un-sprung and Sprung mass of the vehicle at the same time. I wonder how it will behave during articulation.

That is front axle and not the rear. Hence it is fixed and will never move in an IFS setup. The guard is provided for the oil sump.

Thats a real innovative design. and I think cheaper to create and maintain too than putting a plate.

yes sir,
its bolted to the front differential
serves as rightly pointed out as a sump and a transmission guard
its better then a plate,
less weight, looks better
more breathing space for the engine
but its not necessaarily cheaper

Good to see such work on the scorp. Eagerly waiting to see how the off road bumpers will be integrated. Will get them for my scorp too!! Hate to add bull bars cos they increase the length of the vehicle(by more than 6", undesirable while parallel parking in tight spaces. Might grievously injure the car in front), so a replacement offroad bumper would be ideal.

Allan, is this vehicle going to be used for hard core offroading or all the mods for visual delight only?

Came across this completely "rollcaged" truck on the net..

Solid engineering indeed,..but what are you going to do about that paltry ground clearance Bro !! You need at least a 4" lift to keep this beast competant all around !!

Solid exo-skeleton on the under body, attention to detail is your USP.

I feel the outcome will be more pronounced if you can raise the GC by4 inches on the stock GC, by adding suitable tyres (ps. by GC I mean widest point between the ground and the lowest part of the vehicle).

Who conceives ideas at your shop. is it a team or only yourself?

thank you sir,
we are trying our best to increase the ground clearance,
shall do it with a tyre upsize only, we do not wish to do a body lift as stability goes for a toss.
She is also going to be a daily drive

its a team effort. i probably come up with the main plan and sketch, and then sit with my tinkers and mechanics to see whether it is feasible and do able and if its not then make the necessary modifications

Allan, what do you propose to do to protect the electricals on the gearbox? Isn't water getting in there a common cause of 4x4 failure?

I dont think there is any way to waterproof that area. The only thing that I can think of is dont go swimming with your suv.
But I dont think it poses much of a problem... I have gone fording in 2 feet of water in my Safari over a year ago but have never faced any electrical issues with the 4x4 electricals.

shall be taking it out tomorrow
its running 31 inch tyres now and all white
main body will go in for a paint job after the moonsoons
sporting ghost chrome paint on the wheels

next mods after the test
paintjob
lift kit already designed, needs to be fabricated now(no body roll)
