Superb plan for the black cat.

Guess the black cat will do rounds only where she is dominant, right?

Arey DB sir, VN, Spikey etc etc. How about a challenge to "tear the THAR" contest. That would be a good marketing strategy. You guys can have a complimentary feedback after that!

And He who does so, successfully get a THAR Free!!

My friend DKG, does is sound reasonable?

B.D Sirji,
THAR is a Lucky Jeep for me. Because of THAR I could meet you the last time you were here, but just missed meeting your Black Cat! Hope I am even more lucky this time.

Spike: Where are you buddy?! Waiting to meet you too at Bangalore.

EDIT: B.D Sir: Congrats on becoming a Distinguished Bhpian!

Sir Behram,

Yes we did we have a fun filled and productive day. Thanks to you and Spike and of course the THAR.

I wish you would release some Banglore dates so that some guys from other southern Indian cities too can land up there and test drive it , see it in action, enjoy it like we did. Nothing beats the real time test drive.

Personally, I would like Arka to check it out, as he is one person I look up to when it comes to technicalities, amongst very few in the high caliber bracket.

Regards,

BD, I learnt to drive in an MM 540 4X4, grown up with it, played with it to the extent possible. Later upgraded to Scorpio, repeat with another new Scorpio. End to end a Mahindra customer for more than 20 plus yrs now. I religiously follow the THAR trend. I took almost 2 days to learn about you and the efforts you have showered in this project. Please accept my heartfelt respect here.

Concern: All fine on what we want form the THAR, BUT, What happens after I play around, get dirty, maybe with a few dent/broken parts and I come to get her serviced? My personal experience with the authorized service centers in Bangalore, especially the one starting with “S” is pathetic. Even with a FOLLOW UP service, my needs are not met on a brand new Scorpio (flagship product so far). How can I expect the low volume sale THAR to get a better service? What is Mahindra doing to fine tune its dealership to provide superior customer satisfaction, especially with people who LOVE their toys like a kid! This is the only thing that makes me think twice to go for THAR. Wish it could be just otherwise.

Also, be kind enough to let us know the date and place you will be visiting BLR. Many Thanks.

You remind me of a customer at Honda recently who figured the only way to test the suspension of a new City was to take it offroad. His over enthusiastic driving caused the car's engine to hit a sand bank shearing the engine mount off and causing the engine to collapse in the engine bay.

To show him how severely demented his psyche/reasoning was I wish I could have strapped him to a plough and have arid fields with stones ploughed 8 hours a day. Just so that he understands the human body is not meant for such work !!

Sounds reasonable Vikram ? Will atleast separate the bulls from the men !!!

I am afraid somewhere down the line the effort will be to see that the Thar fails instead of understanding what it is capable of.

Its not the ultimate offroader ever.

Ultimately if a vehicle allows you to do what you desire it to do in normal course of your usage that's all that matters, doesn't it? I won't drive into a concrete barrier a new sedan only to test its crash test worthiness! Same way you don't destroy a offroader to find if it can allow you to go places and do things that put a smile on your face.

Bizarre logic !!

Why the Southern bias? :-)

Ok Bd Sir why the southern bias? We (North-Delhi-Noida) have better places for the black cat to play and strut her stuff. Anyway I am happy for the Texans and let's hope you just launch it soon.

Will er...the post monsoon be close to the launch date?

Chaunfa

Hi Sutripta,

I don't have figures for the MM540/MM550. ut for a similar size (WB) vehicle.
For the 2005 JEEP Wrangler TJ (Solid Axle Coil Spring)
it is F/R 48:51 and 50:50 for the Rubicon Model.

Jeep Horizons :: 2005 Jeep Wrangler Specifications

My guess for the MM540/MM550 is Front/Rear 55:45

With the Differential Housing bolted to the Chassis, I think the Weight Distribution will be more toward the front in case of the M&M Thar.

Regards,

Arka

This is a biblically good weight bias.
Almost equal to Group N WRC cars.
Is this with fuel or without fuel or?
Has someone weighed the four corners?

It was like the very rare Hindi film which keeps you gripped without a dull moment at all ("A Wednesday" is one such film). The dessert after the biryani was pure Hyderabadi fare and I loved it. My beloved "black cat", the Thar loved it too. We heard her, merrily purring along like a cat should, burning the mean streets of Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad after the "demonstration OTR", didn't we?

Dear all - thank you for your comments and please keep them coming. I won't comment on the OTR. And by the way, after Spike and I left for the airport, my great driver just sprinted the "black cat" back 700 kms overnight to Kandivli, Mumbai within hours from Hyderabad ("mazaa aaya saab" - he told me)..

I was in Kandivli today. I saw her. Waiting. She looked at me like a lean mean black cat would. Tank full, she is ready. Patiently waiting for my command to sprint her to the next city to "prowl". Let's see now, there is this big IT savvy city in South India, it's name starts with the letter "B" I think. It's "only" a 1000 odd kms away from Mumbai. Good for my non stop overnight "chamcha" sprint (accelerator pedal is known as "chamcha"). Let's see now, 150 kmph between Panvel / Pune and Pune / Belgaum. Kolhapuri Chicken, here I come. When? . HeHeHe.

Best regards,

Behram Dhabhar
Dear Behram Sir, I'd want to ride the black cat too, whenever she comes to the IT savvy city whose name starts with 'B'.

Yikes!
